Remove exhaust system. Refer to 18 00 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE
EXHAUST SYSTEM (M54) .
Remove transmission. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - X3 (GS6-37BZ) or REMOVAL &
INSTALLATION (A5S 360R/390R) .
Remove oxygen sensors (monitor). Refer to 11 78 611 REPLACING OXYGEN MONITOR SENSOR
(CYLINDERS 1-3) and 11 78 612 REPLACING OXYGEN MONITOR SENSOR (CYLINDERS 4-
6).
Detach vacuum line (1) from vacuum accumulator.

Release transmission fluid line screw (1) on engine oil sump.
