FRONT OIL SEAL
Removal
Remove the timing cover.
Push the seal out from the inside of the cover.
Installation
Push the new seal into the housing [A). Put a support
under the housing near the
seal to keep housing from
breaking.
When installing the cover it is important that the oil seal
is in alignment with the crankshaft and sheave boss.
TIMING CHAIN TIGHTENING
Removal
Remove the timing chain cover (and oil pan if necessary).
Remove the timing chain tightener and arm by removing
the two fastening
bolts [B).
Installation
Install the tightener arm on the pivot pin.
Install the tightener and install the two bolts.
Install
the timing chain cover (and oil pan if necessary).
CAMSHAFT AND VALVE LIFTERS
Removal
Remove the engine assembly and put the engine on a
stand. Remove the crankcase
oil.
Disconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump.
Loosen the govemor adjustment bolts and remove the
belt.
Remove the water pump sheave.
Remove the
oil and fuel pumps from the cylinder block.
Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs and
remove the rocker cover. Clean all gasket material from
the rocker arm cover and cylinder head.
Remove the distributor from the cylinder block.
Remove the rocker shaft bolts evenly and lift off the rocker
shaft.
