The BODY BIKE SMART is an indoor cycle designed for fitness and exercise, offering a robust and user-friendly experience. Its primary function is to provide a stationary cycling workout, allowing users to engage in cardiovascular exercise and strength training in a controlled environment.
The cycle is designed for indoor use and emphasizes user safety and comfort. Before starting any exercise, users are advised to consult a physician. The handlebar and seat post are adjustable, allowing users to customize their riding position. The handlebar features an adjustment system with clearly marked positions (A-K) and numbered settings (1-6) for precise height and reach adjustments. These adjustments are secured by release handles that can be tightened or loosened using an M8 bolt and a 6mm Allen wrench. Vertical and horizontal adjustments should be made in quarter-turn increments to ensure proper locking. When moving the cycle, the handlebar should be in a locked position, and the cycle should be wheeled carefully, avoiding bumps or uneven surfaces. It is crucial not to lift the cycle by the saddle or handles.
The resistance system is controlled by a tension knob. Users are cautioned not to add more tension than necessary, as over-tightening can damage the brake unit. The pedals are designed for regular use and should be tightened every 14 days to prevent them from becoming loose or breaking off. The rubber feet of the cycle are adjustable to ensure the cycle remains level during use, and users should avoid performing stretch exercises on the cycle itself, its pedals, or against it. Switching the front or seat post from one cycle to another is not recommended.
Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the BODY BIKE SMART. After every use, the cycle should be wiped clean. For cleaning, water in a spray bottle with some washing-up liquid is recommended; alcohol or other chemicals should never be used. After each use, the tension should always be released, and all handles unlocked.
To maintain the cycle's appearance, a cloth with a small amount of Vaseline oil can be used on all parts except the phone holder, handlebar, and saddle. Vaseline oil should also be used to clean between the top of the posts and the sliders. Every other week, the seat post and front post should be pulled out and wiped clean with an oily cloth.
Pedals should be tightened every 14 days to prevent loosening or breaking. The screws in the adjustment handles (8 in total) should be tightened once a month.
The brake pad requires regular inspection. After the first month of use, and then every three months thereafter, the brake pad should be checked to ensure it is not worn through. The expected durability of the brake pad is approximately 1500 hours. Replacing the entire brake unit involves loosening a specific component, as illustrated in the manual.
Monthly inspections should include checking the flywheel edge for smoothness. If dirt has accumulated, it should be cleaned with a 3M Scotch-Brite™ pad. Pedals should be replaced annually or after 1500 hours of use, whichever comes first.
An annual service check should include vacuum cleaning the inside of the cycle and verifying that the ribs on the Poly-V belt and pulley are clean. If the belt does not catch hold of the flywheel, it indicates that the belt needs tightening. The Poly-V belt tension can be adjusted using a 19mm wrench and a 10mm wrench, and its tension should be set to 125 kg/229Hz, tightening equally on both sides.
Every two years, the rubber feet should be replaced because they harden over time and lose their ability to absorb impact.
For troubleshooting, if the SMART Release handles are not locking, they can be adjusted by tightening the M8 bolt using a 6mm Allen wrench, making quarter-turn adjustments at a time. The manual provides detailed illustrations for these adjustments, showing the handle in both unlocked and tightened positions.
In cases where side covers need to be removed for more extensive maintenance, specific instructions are provided. This involves removing the left side cover, which requires a 17mm wrench, a 3mm Allen wrench, and an 8mm Allen wrench. The process includes turning the handle counter-clockwise until the top nut comes off, holding the top nut with a wrench, loosening specific components, and dismounting the pedal arm. Finally, the top cover can be carefully lifted after removing 10 screws.
