Electrical Safety
Your machine is double insulated for safety and requires
no earth connection. The operating voltage is 230 V AC,
50 Hz. Only use approved extension cables. Contact
your service agent for details.
It is recommended for increased electrical safety to use
a Residual Current Device (RCD) with a tripping current
of not more than 30 mA. Always check your RCD every
time you use it.
For products not sold in GB: WARNING: For safety, it
is essential that the mains plug 25 attached to the ma-
chine is fitted to the power supply cable 27 as shown.
The couplings of connection leads must be protected
against splashes and the coupling sockets on the leads
must be made of rubber or coated with rubber.
Fixing means for the connection leads must be used.
The connection lead must be inspected for signs of dam-
age at regular intervals and may only be used if in per-
fect condition.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a
Bosch approved Service Agent.
Extension cords/leads should only be used if they com-
ply with H07VV-F or H07RN-F types.
Products sold in GB only: Your chain saw is fitted with an
approved 13 A (BS 1363/A) electric plug and is pro-
tected by a 13 A fuse (ASTA Approved to BS 1362).
If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it
should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its
place.
The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a possi-
ble shock hazard and should never be inserted into a
13 A socket elsewhere.
Do not connect the chain saw to mains before
it is completely assembled.
Always use gloves when handling the chain.
Chain and chain bar assembly for SDS models
(AKE 30-17 S/35-17 S/40-17 S,
SDS tool-less tensioning system)
– Unpack all parts carefully.
– Place the chain saw on any suitable flat surface with
the motor facing downwards.
– Align the two assembly arrows on the tensioning
ring 13 and cover plate 15.
– Slide the chain 10 in the slot around the chain bar 11.
Ensure chain is in correct running direction by com-
paring with chain symbol 21. Ensure the chain ten-
sioning catch 17 is facing upwards.
– Fit the chain onto the drive sprocket 22 and guide the
chain bar 11, so that the fastening bolt 18 and the two
guide fins fit into the keyway of the chain bar 11.
Check if all parts are seated properly and hold chain
and chain bar in a level position.
– Fit cover plate 15, check that arrows are still
aligned and ensure that the chain catch bolt 26 fits
into the groove of the cover plate 15.
– Hand tighten locking knob 14 on fastening bolt 18.
– Proceed to “tensioning chain SDS models”.
Chain and chain bar assembly for standard
models (AKE 3000/3500/4000)
– Unpack all parts carefully.
– Place the chain saw on any suitable flat surface with
the motor facing downwards.
– Slide the chain 10 in the slot around the chain bar 11.
Ensure chain is in correct running direction by com-
paring with chain symbol 21.
– Fit the chain onto the drive sprocket 22 and guide the
chain bar 11, so that the fastening bolt 18 and the two
guide fins fit into the keyway of the chain bar 11, and
that the chain tensioning peg 23 fits into the respec-
tive hole of the chain bar 11. If necessary, adjust
chain tensioning screw 24 to bring tensioning peg 23
in alignment with the hole in the chain bar 11. Check
if all parts are seated properly and hold chain and
chain bar in a level position.
– Fit cover plate 15 and ensure that the chain catch
bolt 26 fits into the groove of the cover plate 15.
– Hand tighten locking nut 16 on fastening bolt 18.
– Proceed to “tensioning chain standard models”.
