Function Description:
The Bosch extractor hood is designed to remove cooking fumes, steam, and odors from the kitchen environment. It can operate in two primary modes: exhaust air mode and circulating-air mode. In exhaust air mode, air is drawn in, cleaned by grease filters, and then expelled to the exterior through a pipe system. In circulating-air mode, the air is drawn in, cleaned by both grease filters and an activated carbon filter, and then recirculated back into the kitchen. The appliance features a fan with multiple speed settings, including an intensive mode for heavy steam and odors, and independent lighting.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Operating Height: The appliance is intended for use up to a maximum height of 2000 meters above sea level.
- Weight: The maximum weight of the extractor hood is 40 kg.
- Electrical Connection: The appliance requires a protective contact socket that has been correctly installed. The mains power cable is approximately 1.30 m long. An all-pole isolating switch must be integrated into the permanent electrical installation if the mains plug is not easily accessible. A residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB) in the power supply circuit is recommended.
- Exhaust Air Pipe Diameter: Recommended diameter is 150 mm, with an option for 120 mm using a reducing connector.
- Safety Clearances: Specific safety clearances from the hob must be observed during installation. The width of the extractor hood should at least correspond to the width of the hob.
- LED Lighting: The appliance uses LED lights, which are classified under risk group 1 due to their dazzling nature. Direct viewing for more than 100 seconds is not recommended.
Usage Features:
- Control Panel: The appliance features a user-friendly control panel with symbols for fan on/off, fan settings (1, 2, 3), intensive mode, and light on/off/dimming.
- Fan Settings: Users can select from three fan settings (1, 2, 3) to adjust the extraction power according to the amount of steam produced.
- Intensive Mode: A dedicated intensive mode is available for situations with a large build-up of odors and fumes/vapours. This mode automatically switches back to fan setting 3 after approximately 6 minutes.
- Lighting: The lighting can be switched on and off independently of the fan operation and also features a dimming function.
- Glass Front: Some models allow the glass front to be adjusted to an intermediate position, which can be useful for eliminating strong cooking smells and large amounts of steam.
- Energy Saving Tips: The manual provides tips for saving energy, such as ensuring adequate air supply, adjusting fan speed to cooking needs, using intensive mode only when necessary, switching off the hood and lighting when not required, and regularly cleaning/replacing filters.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: Regular cleaning is crucial for maintaining the appliance's effectiveness and preventing fire hazards.
- Grease Filters: Metal grease filters should be cleaned regularly (recommended every 2 months) to prevent fatty deposits from catching fire. They can be cleaned either by hand with hot soapy water and a brush or in a dishwasher using normal domestic dishwashing detergents at a temperature of no more than 70 °C. Stubborn dirt can be removed with a special degreaser.
- Surfaces: Different cleaning products are recommended for various surfaces:
- Stainless Steel: Hot soapy water and a soft cloth, or special stainless steel cleaning products applied thinly. Clean in the direction of the grain.
- Painted Surfaces: Hot soapy water and a damp dish cloth.
- Aluminium and Plastic: Hot soapy water and a soft cloth.
- Glass: Glass cleaner and a soft cloth (no glass scraper).
- Controls: Hot soapy water and a damp dish cloth (avoid wet cloths to prevent moisture ingress into electronics).
- Activated Carbon Filter (Circulating-Air Mode): For circulating-air mode, an activated carbon filter must be installed to bind odors. These filters need to be replaced periodically, and information on options and accessories can be obtained from dealers or the online shop.
- Safety Precautions for Maintenance:
- Always allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning to avoid burns.
- Disconnect the appliance from the mains or switch off the circuit breaker before cleaning to prevent electric shock.
- Wear protective gloves when cleaning components inside the appliance due to sharp edges.
- Do not use high-pressure cleaners or steam cleaners.
- Avoid harsh, abrasive, or high-alcohol content cleaning agents, hard scouring pads, or oven spray.
- Do not clean heavily soiled metal grease filters with cookware in the dishwasher.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting section to address common issues like the appliance not working, lighting not functioning, or button illumination failure, with suggested solutions or advice to contact customer service.
