Overview

This document provides instructions for the Bosch PAM21011 portable air conditioning unit, which offers cooling, dehumidification, and air purification functions.

Function Description

The PAM21011 is a multi-functional appliance designed to improve indoor air quality and comfort.

  • Cooling (Climatisation): This mode reduces the ambient room temperature to a user-selected level. Simultaneously, it dehumidifies and filters the air to create a pleasant indoor climate. When operating in this mode, condensed water evaporates automatically and is expelled outdoors with the hot air through the expulsion tube. In conditions of high humidity, excess condensed water collects in a removable tank at the rear of the appliance. The appliance will stop operating and display a "water tank full" symbol when the tank reaches its maximum level, requiring manual emptying.
  • Dehumidification (Luftentfeuchtung): In this mode, the appliance reduces the humidity in the room while also filtering the air. The condensed water can be collected in the removable tank or continuously drained via a pipe to an external receptacle. The appliance does not stop or signal when the external receptacle is full in continuous drainage mode. The temperature display is not active in this mode, and temperature cannot be selected or modified. The appliance expels warm air through the expulsion tube, which is necessary for efficient operation in this mode.
  • Air Purification (Luftreinigung): This function circulates and filters the room air. The appliance comes with a basic filter and a double active filter with activated carbon, effective against odors, smoke, pollen, bacteria, and dust. Filters should remain installed in all operating modes for optimal purification.
  • Ionisation (Ionisator): This feature enriches the air with negatively charged ions, similar to the fresh air experienced after a summer storm or near natural environments. The ioniser can be activated in conjunction with any of the cooling, dehumidification, or air purification functions, and at any fan speed.

Important Technical Specifications

The PAM21011 is designed for connection to a 220/240 V, 50 Hz mains electricity supply via an earthed socket, protected by a 10 A slow-action fuse.

  • Maximum Cooling Capacity: 2100 W
  • Maximum Power Consumption: 975 W
  • Dehumidification Capacity: 42 liters/day
  • Fuse: 10 A
  • Energy Efficiency Class: C
  • Working Range (Cooling): 18 – 35 °C
  • Working Range (Dehumidification): 18 – 35 °C

Usage Features

The appliance features a user-friendly control panel with a digital display for temperature, time, speed, and mode.

  • Navigation: "Up" and "down" keys move the selection box on the screen, while "+" and "–" keys adjust values within the selected function (e.g., temperature or fan speed). The navigation is cyclical, meaning moving past the top or bottom of the menu wraps around.
  • Temperature Selection: Available only in cooling mode, users can select a desired temperature between 18°C and 30°C in 1°C increments using the "+" and "–" keys. Holding the key down accelerates the temperature change.
  • Fan Speed Selection: Five manual speeds and two automatic speeds ("Turbo" and "Silent") are available. "Turbo" provides maximum cooling power, adjusting fan speed based on room conditions to reach the set temperature efficiently. "Silent" operates at a lower, quieter cooling power.
  • Side Air Output Fins: The appliance has side fins that can be opened or closed to improve air distribution. They activate with a dedicated button and close automatically when the appliance is turned off.
  • Timer Programming: The appliance allows setting the current time (24-hour format) and programming start and stop times. The timer menu offers "Off" (appliance not programmed), "Start" (start time), "Stop" (stop time), and "Start/Stop" (both start and stop times). Time adjustments are made in 15-minute intervals. Programmed settings repeat daily until deactivated.
  • Hot Air Expulsion Tube: The tube connects to the top rear of the appliance and should be positioned to expel warm air outdoors. For optimal efficiency and minimal noise, the tube should be kept as short as possible (maximum 140 cm) and avoid sharp bends. Accessories are provided for various window types (sliding window/balcony accessory, suction pad) and permanent wall/window installations.
  • Water Drainage: Condensed water can be collected in the removable tank or continuously drained using the water drainage pipe at the rear. The appliance will stop when the removable tank is full.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the appliance's efficiency and longevity.

  • Appliance Cleaning: Unplug the appliance before cleaning. Use a soft cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Avoid hot water (over 40°C), bleach, benzene, petrol, acids, abrasive pads, brushes, or strong detergents. Do not use a hose to clean the appliance.
  • Filter Cleaning and Replacement: The appliance includes a basic filter and a double active filter with activated carbon.
    • Basic Filter: Should be cleaned regularly by pressing the top clip, removing it, washing under cold running water, drying, and replacing.
    • Double Active Filter: Located inside the basic filter, it should be replaced annually or when the "change filter" symbol appears on the screen. Replacement filters can be purchased from official technical service or authorized distributors. After replacement, simultaneously press the "+" and "–" keys to clear the "change filter" symbol from the display. The front flap can be partially removed for easier filter access and cleaning.
  • Storage: At the end of the season, the expulsion tube can be bent towards the back of the appliance and secured with the diffusion hook to save space.
  • Seasonal Preparation: Before using at the start of a new season, clean the air filter and, if necessary, the casing and grilles.
  • Transportation: The appliance has wheels for easy movement. If tilting is necessary for transport, ensure the internal water tank is emptied first. After tilting, wait at least one hour before turning the appliance back on to allow the cooling circuit to stabilize.
