Overview

This document is a user manual and installation guide for the Bosch WTH83001AU Tumble Dryer.

Function Description

The Bosch WTH83001AU Tumble Dryer is designed for drying and freshening up water-washed fabrics suitable for dryers. It operates in private households and enclosed domestic environments, up to an altitude of 4000 m above sea level. The appliance uses humidity sensors in its automatic programs to measure residual moisture, ending the program once the set dryness level is reached. It also offers timed programs with a defined or adjustable duration, suitable for individual items or thin fabrics. The dryer incorporates a heat pump system, which contributes to energy efficiency by reusing condensation for automatic cleaning.

Usage Features

The tumble dryer features a control panel with a program selector and buttons for various settings. The display shows current settings, options, and operating status, including program duration, remaining time, program end time, childproof lock status, dryness level, crease-reduction function, and condensation container status.

Programs: The dryer offers both automatic and timed programs:

  • Automatic Programs:
    • Cottons: For hard-wearing, heat-resistant cotton or linen fabrics, with "Cupboard Extra Dry," "Cupboard Dry," and "Iron Dry" options.
    • Eco: Energy-saving program for hard-wearing, heat-resistant cotton or linen.
    • Easy Care: For synthetic or blended fabrics, with "Cupboard Extra Dry," "Cupboard Dry," and "Iron Dry" options.
    • Mixed: For cotton and synthetics.
    • Delicates: For delicate items like satin, synthetics, or blended fabrics.
    • Sportswear: For self-drying sportswear (performance fibres, microfibres).
    • Shirts/Blouses: For cotton, linen, synthetics, or blended shirts/blouses (max 5 items for optimal results).
    • Super 40': For synthetics and light cotton.
    • Towels: For hard-wearing, heat-resistant towels and dressing gowns made of cotton or linen.
  • Timed Programs:
    • Timed Program Cold 30': For all fabric types except wool and silk, for fluffing or airing lightly worn clothing, or drying individual items. Duration is 30 minutes.
    • Timed Program Warm 30': For all fabric types except wool and silk, for pre-dried or slightly damp laundry, or drying multi-layered, thick laundry. Duration is 30 minutes.

Dryness Levels: Each automatic program has a specified dryness level, which can be adjusted for some programs:

  • Cupboard Extra Dry: For multi-layered, thick laundry that does not dry readily (laundry is dry).
  • Cupboard Dry: For normal, single-layered laundry (laundry is dry).
  • Iron Dry: For normal, single-layered laundry (laundry is still a little damp, suitable for ironing or hanging up to prevent creasing).

Other Features:

  • Childproof Lock: Activates or deactivates to prevent unintentional operation.
  • Easy Iron (Crease-reduction function): Moves laundry at regular intervals for 120 minutes after the program ends to prevent creasing.
  • Finished in: Allows setting a program end time up to 24 hours in advance.
  • Energy Saving Mode: Automatically activates after an extended period of inactivity, turning off all displays and flashing "Start/Pause."
  • Basic Settings: Customizable settings include end signal volume, button signal volume, and washing machine spin speed (which affects displayed program duration).

Operation:

  1. Switch on the appliance by turning the program selector.
  2. Set the desired program and adjust settings if needed.
  3. Load laundry, ensuring it is prepared (e.g., zips closed, pockets empty) and sorted.
  4. Start the program by pressing "Start/Pause."
  5. Laundry can be added or removed during a program by pausing, opening the door, adding/removing, and then resuming.
  6. Programs can be cancelled at any time.
  7. Switch off the appliance by turning the program selector to "Off."

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the appliance's efficiency and longevity.

Fluff Filter:

  • Cleaning: The fluff filter collects lint during drying. It must be cleaned after each drying program or when indicated on the display.
    1. Open the door and remove fluff from the door.
    2. Remove the two-part fluff filter.
    3. Open the fluff filters and remove fluff.
    4. Clean the two fluff filters thoroughly under warm, running water and dry them off.
    5. Close the fluff filters and insert them back into the appliance.

Filter System on the Base Unit:

  • Cleaning: This system protects the appliance from fluff that collects in the base unit's heat exchanger. It should be cleaned regularly, even without a notification, and especially when indicated on the display.
    1. Open the maintenance flap at the bottom of the appliance.
    2. Open the lever for the heat exchanger cover.
    3. Pull out the heat exchanger cover by the handle.
    4. Carefully remove the filter mat from the retainers.
    5. Use a soft brush to clean the heat exchanger cover and brush attachment, ensuring all dirt is removed from the seal. Vacuum the fins from top to bottom without deforming or damaging them.
    6. Clean the filter mat thoroughly under warm, running water and squeeze it out. Heavy soiling can be removed with a vacuum cleaner, but avoid cleaning products.
    7. Push the filter mat onto the retainers, ensuring it is not deformed or damaged.
    8. Close the lever for the heat exchanger.
    9. Close the base unit.

Condensation Container:

  • Emptying: The condensation container collects water during drying. It needs to be emptied when the drying program finishes or when indicated on the display, unless the water drain hose is connected.
    1. Pull out the condensation container, keeping it level.
    2. Empty the container.
    3. Push the container back in until it goes in as far as it will go.
  • Water Drain Hose: An optional water drain hose can be connected to drain condensation directly into the waste water system, eliminating the need to regularly empty the container. Connection types include drainage into a siphon, wash basin, or gully.

Moisture Sensor:

  • Cleaning: Residue from limescale, detergents, and care products can build up on the moisture sensor, impairing the appliance's functionality. It should be cleaned regularly.
    1. Open the door.
    2. Clean the moisture sensor with a sponge. Avoid hard or rough objects, abrasive cleaning products, or steel wool.

General Cleaning:

  • Wipe down the housing and controls with water and a damp cloth.
  • Immediately remove any detergent, spray, or other residues.
  • Leave the appliance door open after use to allow residual water to dry and reduce odors.

Transportation, Storage, and Disposal:

  • Before transportation, the appliance should be prepared by draining condensation and securing the water drain hose. It should be transported upright.
  • For disposal, unplug the appliance, cut the power cord, and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner, ensuring the refrigerant circuit is not damaged. Old appliances should be rendered unusable to prevent children from locking themselves inside.
