Overview

This document describes the Bosch Tumble Dryer models WTW85S49SN and WTW85I49SN, providing comprehensive information on its function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Bosch Tumble Dryer is designed to efficiently dry laundry. It operates by circulating warm air through the drum to remove moisture from fabrics. The dryer features various programmes tailored for different fabric types and drying needs, including options for cottons, easy-care, sport, towels, mix, shirts, super quick, woollen finish, and delicates. It also includes functions such as anti-crease, low-heat drying, and timed programmes.

A key feature of this tumble dryer is its condensation system. Moisture extracted from the laundry is collected in a condensate container, which needs to be emptied regularly. Alternatively, the dryer can be connected to a drain hose to automatically discharge the condensation water, eliminating the need for manual emptying. The appliance is equipped with a stainless-steel moisture sensor that measures the dampness of the laundry, allowing for precise drying and energy efficiency.

The dryer also incorporates a fluff filter system to capture lint and debris from the drying process, which must be cleaned after each drying cycle to maintain optimal performance and prevent fire hazards. An automatic cleaning function for the heat exchanger is mentioned, indicating a self-maintenance aspect for this critical component.

Usage Features

The tumble dryer is user-friendly, with a control panel featuring a programme selector, buttons for various settings, and a display panel.

  • Loading Laundry: Load laundry into the drum, ensuring it is not overloaded. The maximum load capacity is 9 kg.
  • Programme Selection: Turn the programme selector to choose the desired drying programme based on fabric type and desired dryness level. The display panel shows the programme status and remaining duration.
  • Adjusting Settings: Use the buttons to adjust settings such as degree of dryness (e.g., Cupboard Dry, Ready in time), anti-crease, low-heat drying, signal, and start/pause. The degree of dryness can be increased in three stages.
  • Starting a Programme: Press the Start button to begin the drying cycle.
  • Changing/Cancelling a Programme: Programmes can be changed or cancelled at any time by opening the dryer door or pressing the Start button. If a programme is cancelled, the laundry should be removed immediately to prevent material damage or damage to the appliance due to residual heat.
  • Emptying the Condensate Container: If not connected to a drain hose, the condensate container must be pulled out and emptied after each drying cycle.
  • Cleaning the Fluff Filter: The two-part fluff filter located in the dryer door must be cleaned after every drying cycle.
  • Childproof Lock: The appliance can be secured with a childproof lock to prevent unintended operation.
  • Signal Setting: The volume of the audible signal at the end of the programme can be adjusted.

For optimal energy saving, it is recommended to spin the laundry before drying, load the dryer with the maximum load, ventilate the room, and clean the fluff filter after each drying cycle.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of the tumble dryer.

  • Cleaning the Fluff Filter: The two-part fluff filter must be cleaned after every drying cycle. This involves opening the dryer door, pulling out the filter, removing fluff, rinsing it under warm, running water, and reinserting it. Failure to clean the filter can lead to longer drying times, increased energy consumption, and a fire hazard.
  • Cleaning the Condensate Container Filter: The filter in the condensate container should be cleaned regularly, especially if the dryer's automatic cleaning cycle is active. This involves pulling out the condensate container, removing the filter, rinsing it, and reinserting it.
  • Cleaning the Moisture Sensor: The stainless-steel moisture sensor in the drum should be cleaned periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove limescale or detergent residues, which can impair its function. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.
  • Cleaning the Dryer and Control Panel: The dryer can be cleaned using only water and a soft, damp cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or agents for pre-treating laundry (e.g., prewash sprays, stain removers) as they can damage the appliance.
  • Draining Condensation Water: If the dryer is not connected to a drain hose, the condensate container must be emptied after each drying cycle. If a drain hose is connected, ensure it is properly installed and not kinked or blocked.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the display panel being interrupted, dryer not starting, creasing, water leaking out, laundry not drying correctly, long drying times, and unusual noises.
  • After-Sales Service: In case of faults that cannot be rectified by following the troubleshooting guide, contact Bosch after-sales service. Provide the dryer's product number (E-Nr.) and production number (FD) for efficient service.

The appliance is equipped with an automatic cleaning function for the heat exchanger, which helps maintain its efficiency. However, the user is still responsible for cleaning the fluff filter and the condensate container filter.
