Do you have a question about the Bosean Electronic Technology BH-90a and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The BH-90a is a portable single gas detector designed for continuous detection of combustible and toxic gases. It is particularly suitable for leakage detection in underground pipes or mines, ensuring worker safety and preventing facility damage. The detector utilizes an excellent-quality sensor and operates via natural diffusion, offering good sensitivity and reproducibility. It incorporates an embedded MCU controller for ease of operation and features a robust shell made of special high-strength material and anti-smooth rubber, providing waterproof and dustproof capabilities.

Function Description:

The BH-90a detector provides continuous monitoring of gas concentrations in the environment. It features adjustable low and high alarm levels, as well as an adjustable calibrating level. The device offers high concentration protection for combustible gases and includes a self-test function for the combustible gas sensor. It provides visual and audible alarms, complemented by vibration for enhanced alert. Advanced self-examination and self-renovation functions ensure reliable operation, while password management prevents incorrect operations. The detector is housed in an explosive-proof casing for safety in hazardous environments.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Gas Detected: Combustible gases (CH4, C3H8, H2), toxic gases, oxygen. Other rare toxic gases like ammonia (NH3), nitric oxide (NO), phosphine (PH3), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), hydrogen cyanide (HCN), sulfur dioxide (SO2) are also available and can be specified by the customer.
  • Range: Refer to attached Table 1 for specific gas ranges.
  • Alarm Set Points: Refer to attached Table 1.
  • Accuracy: ±5% F.S.
  • Response Time: T < 30s
  • Indication: LCD displays time and state. Alarm, fault, and low voltage are indicated by LED, sound, and vibration.
  • Operating Environment:
    • Operating Temperature: -40℃ to 70℃ (for combustible gas); -10℃ to 55℃ (for toxic gas).
    • Humidity: <95%RH non-condensing.
  • Operating Voltage: DC3.7V Li battery 1500mAh.
  • Working Time: < 8h continuously.
  • Charging Time: 4h to 6h.
  • Sensor Life: 2 years.
  • Protection Category: IP65.
  • Weight: Approximately 130g (including battery but without accessories).
  • Dimension: 109mm × 60mm × 30mm.
  • Principle: Electrochemical or Catalytic sensor or others, depending on the gas type.

Usage Features:

The device is operated via push buttons.

  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to activate or deactivate the detector.
  • Menu Navigation: The menu allows access to various settings including:
    • Gas Zero: For zero drift calibration in clean air.
    • Gas Calib: For calibration with standard gas. Requires a password (8888) to access.
    • Set Time: To adjust year, month, date, hour, and minute.
    • Record: Displays alarm records, including date, time, and maximum alarm value within 3 minutes.
    • LA Set (Low Alarm Set): To adjust the low alarm level.
    • HA Set (High Alarm Set): To adjust the high alarm level. Note that the high alarm value should never be lower than the low alarm value.
    • Unit Set: To select the suitable measurement unit (e.g., ppm, mg/m³). This function is applicable to PPM unit gases.
    • ESC: Returns to the normal detecting interface.
    • Turn Off: Powers down the device.

Display Elements:

The LCD screen displays:

  • Gas type (e.g., CO)
  • Current concentration value (e.g., 0 ppm)
  • Full voltage indicator
  • Temperature (e.g., 25.5 °C)
  • Time (e.g., 10:45)

Alarm Information:

  • Low Alarm: Short, slow alarm tone; yellow alarm indication; red alarm light flashes; device vibrates.
  • High Alarm: Abnormal, harsh alarm tone; red alarm indication; red alarm light flashes; device vibrates.
  • Low Battery Alarm: Slow, short alarm tone every minute to remind the user.

Charging:

The detector should be charged when it indicates low battery or cannot be turned on due to low battery. It is crucial to turn off the detector before charging to prevent potential damage. Charging is complete when the battery icon on the screen is full and static.

  • Warning: The detector cannot detect gas leakage during charging. Do not charge in testing areas to avoid fire or explosion. Do not charge while the detector is working to prevent potential damage.
  • Note: Ensure a full charge at least once a month if the device is not used for a long time.

Maintenance Features:

  • Calibration: To ensure testing accuracy, the detector should be calibrated periodically, with the calibration period being less than one year.
  • Cleaning: If dust accumulates on the detector's surface after long-term use, clean it gently with a soft, clean cloth. Avoid using caustic solvents or hard objects, which could scratch or damage the surface.
  • Storage: The detector should not be stored or used in environments with caustic gases (e.g., Cl2) or other harsh conditions, including extreme high or low temperatures, high humidity, strong electromagnetic fields, or direct sunlight.
  • Battery Disposal: Used Lithium batteries should be disposed of in designated places or returned to the company. Do not discard them in general waste bins.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • No response to alarm: Check for wrong alarm point (reset it) or fault of electric circuit (contact manufacturer).
    • Inaccurate indication: Sensor might be overdue (contact manufacturer to replace) or uncalibrated for a long time (calibrate it in time).
    • Insufficient working hours: Check for fault of charger (change charger) or fault of the device (contact manufacturer).
    • Cannot charge electricity: Check for fault of charger (change charger) or fault of the device (contact manufacturer).
