- Gently pulling the red and black tweeter wires from the bottom of the speaker and removing them from the groove.
- Removing the speaker grille.
- Detaching the tweeter by unscrewing three screws around its cover and pulling the wires out of the grooves.
- Surface mounting the tweeter using the provided plastic housings and screws. This allows for optimal tweeter placement to achieve better sound imaging and staging, especially in challenging marine environments where direct sound paths are crucial.
Enclosure Design:
For optimal performance, these loudspeakers are designed to be installed in either sealed or ported enclosures. The manual provides detailed instructions and calculations for determining the required interior volume and dimensions of these enclosures.
- Calculating Enclosure Volume: The specifications table provides recommended sealed and ported enclosure volumes in cubic feet. To design an enclosure, these values must be converted to cubic inches (multiply by 1728).
- Calculating Enclosure Dimensions: The process involves:
- Estimating the exterior height and width based on available space.
- Subtracting the cabinet material thickness (e.g., 3/4” MDF x2) to find interior width and height.
- Multiplying interior width by interior height.
- Dividing the recommended interior volume (in cubic inches) by this product to determine the required interior depth.
- Adding the cabinet material thickness (e.g., 1.5" for two 3/4" panels) to the interior depth to get the exterior depth.
This iterative process helps ensure the enclosure fits the available space while providing the correct internal volume for optimal speaker performance.
