Overview

The Braun Beard Trimmer, available in models BT3940, BT3242, BT3241, and BT3240 (Type 5517), is a versatile grooming tool designed for precise beard trimming and hair clipping. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for safe and effective use, maintenance, and disposal of the product.

Function Description

The Braun Beard Trimmer is primarily designed for shaping and maintaining beards and for hair clipping. It features a trimmer head (2) and two precision comb attachments: a precision beard comb (1a) for lengths between 1-10 mm, and a precision hair comb (1b) for lengths between 11-20 mm. The length selector (3) allows users to easily adjust the cutting length in 0.5 mm steps, providing flexibility for various styles. The device is powered by a rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery, offering cordless operation for convenience. An on/off button (4) controls the device, and a charging indicator (5) provides feedback on the battery's charging status. The trimmer is designed for cleaning under running tap water, ensuring hygienic maintenance.

Usage Features

Before first use, it is crucial to fully charge the device. The recommended ambient temperature for charging is between 5 °C and 35 °C. Charging outside this range may affect battery performance. A full charge takes approximately 8 hours and provides up to 80 minutes of cordless operation. The charging indicator (5) illuminates during charging and turns off once the battery is fully charged. To maximize battery life, it is recommended to fully discharge the appliance through normal use before recharging it to full capacity.

To begin trimming, ensure the appliance is switched off before attaching or detaching any combs. Select either the precision beard comb (1a) or the precision hair comb (1b) and place it over the trimmer head (2). The length selector (3) can then be rotated to choose the desired cutting length. The comb automatically slides up or down as the length is adjusted. The precision beard comb (1a) offers settings from 1 to 10 mm in 0.5 mm increments, while the precision hair comb (1b) offers settings from 11 to 20 mm, also in 0.5 mm increments.

Once the desired length is set, press the on/off button (4) to turn on the appliance. For effective trimming, guide the flat part of the comb over the skin, moving against the direction of hair growth. To prevent the comb from clogging with hair, it is advisable to remove and clean it periodically during use.

For precision and contour trimming, such as shaping sideburns, moustaches, or partial short beards, the trimmer head (2) can be used without any comb attachment. This allows for closer and more detailed styling.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the Braun Beard Trimmer. Before cleaning, always switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the power supply. The trimmer head (2) and combs can be easily removed for cleaning. Use the provided brush to clean hair clippings from the head, combs, and the main body of the appliance.

The entire appliance, including the handle, head, and combs, is designed to be cleaned under running tap water. After washing, ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling them. This prevents water damage and maintains hygiene.

To keep the trimmer blades working smoothly and efficiently, it is recommended to regularly oil the blade part (cutting element) with light machine oil (not included). This lubrication helps reduce friction and wear, ensuring consistent cutting performance.

When disposing of the product, it is important to note that it contains a rechargeable battery and recyclable electric waste. For environmental protection, the appliance should not be disposed of with household waste. Instead, it should be taken to designated electric waste collection points provided in your country for proper recycling. The rechargeable battery should only be disassembled at the end of the product's useful life for disposal purposes, following the instructions provided in the battery removal section of the manual. It is crucial not to open the appliance or attempt to disassemble the battery for any other reason, as this can be dangerous and may void the warranty.

The device is equipped with a Safety Extra Low Voltage plug-in power supply. To avoid the risk of electric shock, never attempt to exchange or tamper with any part of the power supply. Only use the special cord set provided with your appliance. If the appliance is marked with the symbol D-491C, it can be used with any Braun power supply coded 491-XXXX. Never use the appliance with damaged accessories, including trimmers, combs, or the special cord set.

Children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, can use this appliance if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning its safe use and understand the hazards involved. Children should not play with the appliance, and cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.
