This document describes the Braun Multi-Groomer, Type 5544, a versatile grooming appliance designed for various hair trimming and styling needs. The device is engineered for excellent performance, functionality, and reliability, meeting high-standard requirements. It is suitable for use in a bathtub or shower, but for safety reasons, it must be operated cordless when used in wet conditions. The appliance is provided with a special cord set featuring an integrated Safety Extra Low Voltage power supply. Users are cautioned not to exchange or manipulate any part of the cord set to avoid the risk of electric shock. Only the special cord set provided with the appliance should be used. If the appliance is marked with a specific code (e.g., 491 or 492), it can be used with any Braun power supply coded 491-XXXX or 492-XXXX. It is important never to use the appliance with any damaged accessory, such as trimmers, combs, or the special cord set. The appliance should not be opened by the user. This device can be used by children aged 8 years and above, as well as persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or those lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning its safe use and understand the associated hazards. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.

Function Description

The Braun Multi-Groomer is a multi-functional device designed for beard trimming, hair clipping, precision trimming, contour shaping, ear and nose hair trimming, and body grooming. It comes with a range of interchangeable heads and combs to cater to different grooming requirements.

The main components of the device include:

• Trimmer head (2a): The primary cutting head for general trimming tasks.
• Sliding beard comb (1a): Adjustable comb for beard trimming, offering lengths from 3-11 mm in 2 mm steps.
• Sliding hair comb (1b): Adjustable comb for hair clipping, offering lengths from 13-21 mm in 2 mm steps.
• Release button sliding combs (1c): Used to adjust the length settings of the sliding combs.
• Fixed comb 1 (1d): A fixed-length comb for 1 mm trimming.
• Fixed comb 2 (1e): A fixed-length comb for 2 mm trimming.
• Ear & nose trimmer head (2b)*: A specialized head for safely trimming ear and nose hair.
• Detailed trimmer head (2c)*: For precision trimming and shaping of contours.
• Body groomer head (2d)*: Designed for shaving and trimming hair on legs, chest, and underarms.
• Mini foil shaver head (2e)*: For close shaving and shaping sideburns, moustaches, and partial short beards.
• On/off button (3): To power the device on and off.
• Charging indicator (4): Provides visual feedback on the charging status and battery level.
• Power socket (5): For connecting the special cord set for charging.
• Special cord set (6): The power adapter for charging the device.
• Charging stand (7)*: An optional stand for convenient charging. (* indicates components not included with all models).

Usage Features

To operate the device, attachments should only be exchanged when the appliance is switched off. To turn the appliance on, press the on/off button (3).

Charging:

The recommended ambient temperature for charging is 5 °C to 35 °C. Charging outside this range may prevent proper charging. The ideal ambient temperature for trimming is 15 °C to 35 °C. The appliance should not be exposed to temperatures higher than 50 °C for extended periods. To charge, connect the appliance (switched off) via the special cord set (6) to an electrical outlet. A full charge takes approximately 1 hour and provides up to 100 minutes of cordless operation time. Once fully charged, the appliance should be discharged through normal use before recharging to full capacity again.

Charging Indicator (4):

• The charging indicator blinks green when the appliance is being charged.
• It lights up permanently green for a few seconds when the battery is fully charged.
• During usage, it shines permanently green.
• The charging indicator shines permanently red when the battery is running low. Once it flashes red, the appliance should be connected to the mains.

Travel Lock:

To lock the appliance for travel, press the on/off button (3) for 3 seconds. A beep will confirm that the travel lock is activated. To unlock, press the on/off button (3) for 3 seconds again. If the unlock attempt fails, 3 beeps will sound. Users can try again or simply connect the appliance to the mains to unlock it.

Beard Trimming / Hair Clipping:

• Sliding combs (1a, 1b): Place one of the sliding combs over the trimmer head (2a). Press the release button (1c) and slide the comb to the desired trimming length.
• Fixed combs (1d, 1e): Click one of the fixed combs onto the trimmer head (2a).
• When trimming, guide the flat comb part over the skin, trimming against hair growth.
• Do not force the appliance through the hair faster than it can cut.
• To ensure optimal performance, avoid clogging the comb with hair. Remove and clean it regularly.

Precision and Contour Trimming:

For precise trimming and shaping of contours, use the trimmer head (2a) without a comb attachment, the detailed trimmer head (2c), or the mini foil shaver head (2e). These are ideal for shaping sideburns, moustaches, and partial short beards.

Ear/Nose Trimming:

Remove any other head and click the ear & nose trimmer head (2b) onto the handle of the appliance. Carefully guide the appliance to the hair to be trimmed, ensuring the hairs reach into the cutting cage. Avoid inserting the trimmer more than 5 mm (1/4") into the nose or ear.

Body Grooming:

Remove any other head and click the body groomer head (2d) onto the handle. This head is designed for shaving and trimming hair on legs, chest, and underarms. It should only be used on dry skin.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Always switch off the appliance before cleaning.
• Remove any head and comb from the appliance.
• Use the provided cleaning brush to clean the heads, combs, and the appliance body.
• Important: Do not use the cleaning brush on the foil of the body groomer head or the mini foil shaver head, as this may damage them.
• The mini foil shaver head can be disassembled for proper cleaning. If the foil frame is pulled out, it can be clicked back into the housing.
• The handle, heads, and combs can be cleaned under running water. Rinse thoroughly until all hair residues have been removed. Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling them.
• To maintain optimal performance of the attachments, regularly apply a drop of light machine oil (not included) to the trimmer and the foils.

Battery Removal for Disposal:

When disposing of the multi-groomer, the battery should be removed. Before removal, ensure the battery is completely depleted. Follow the illustrated steps to remove the battery. If you prefer not to disassemble the device yourself, you can take the multi-groomer to a Braun service center, where staff can assist with battery removal and ensure environmentally friendly disposal. Do not disassemble the removed rechargeable battery, as this may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.

Environmental Notice:

The product contains batteries and/or recyclable electric waste. For environmental protection, the appliance should not be disposed of with household waste. Instead, it should be taken to electric waste collection points provided in your country for recycling.

Warranty:

The product comes with a two-year warranty from the date of purchase. During the warranty period, any defects resulting from the manufacturing process will lead to the replacement of parts or the entire product, depending on the situation. This warranty applies to all countries where Braun companies or authorized distributors sell this product.

The warranty does not cover:

• Damage caused by improper use (including, but not limited to, using incorrect current or voltage, plugging the product into unsuitable sockets, and other human-induced damage).
• Wear and tear of foils and blades.
• Minor defects that do not significantly affect normal use.
• Damage resulting from non-household use (e.g., industrial or commercial use).
• The warranty is immediately void if the product is repaired by unauthorized personnel or if non-original Braun spare parts are used.

Services provided during the warranty period do not affect the warranty's expiration. The warranty for replaced parts or the entire unit during the warranty period will expire concurrently with the product's original warranty. This warranty does not affect rights explicitly stipulated by law. For warranty or repair services, please bring the complete unit and proof of purchase to a local or nearby service center.
