Overview

The Braun Series 7 720s-4 is an electric shaver designed for a close and comfortable shave, featuring a range of functions and maintenance features to optimize its performance. This model is specifically designed for wet cleaning.

Function Description

The core of the shaver is the Foil & Cutter cassette, where the foil and inner blades are integrated into a single unit. This design ensures efficient cutting and a smooth shave. The shaver is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, offering cordless operation for convenience.

The device features an On/off switch (5) to power the shaver on and off. To personalize the shaving experience, the shaver includes (-) setting button (sensitive) (6) and (+) setting button (intensive) (7) buttons. These allow users to adjust the shaver head's oscillation amplitude, tailoring the shave to different facial areas and beard densities. The selected setting is indicated by the color of the pilot light on the on/off switch: dark blue for intensive (powerful), light blue for normal, and white for sensitive (thorough and comfortable). The shaver remembers the last used setting for subsequent use.

For precise grooming, a pop-out long hair trimmer (4) is integrated, useful for shaping sideburns, moustaches, and beards. The shaver head itself is designed to pivot, automatically adjusting to the contours of the face for consistent contact. For hard-to-reach areas, a Shaver head «lock» switch (3) allows users to fix one side of the foil, making it easier to shave narrow spots.

The shaver also incorporates a shaver display (9) that provides important information, including battery charge status and a replacement indicator for the Foil & Cutter cassette. A Reset button (8) is available to reset the replacement counter after a new cassette is installed.

Usage Features

To begin shaving, press the On/off switch (5). For optimal results, hold the shaver at a right angle (90°) to the skin and gently stretch the skin with the other hand. Shave against the direction of beard growth, moving the shaver slowly and smoothly. Braun recommends shaving before washing your face, as dry skin can facilitate a closer shave.

The Series 7 features a unique sonic vibration function designed for efficient and gentle deep shaving. This technology allows the shaver to capture more hairs in a single stroke. Users are advised to apply light pressure to the skin, allowing the micro-vibrations to spread effectively. Excessive pressure can hinder the micro-vibrations and reduce the effectiveness of the deep shave.

The (-) setting button (sensitive) (6) and (+) setting button (intensive) (7) buttons allow for personalized shaving. The "intensive" setting (dark blue light) is recommended for a thorough and fast shave over larger areas. For sensitive areas like under the nose or on the chin, the "sensitive" setting (white light) is suggested. The "normal" setting (light blue light) is a good all-around option.

The Shaver head «lock» switch (3) is particularly useful for intricate areas. By tilting the pivoting head backwards and pushing the switch, one side of the foil is locked, allowing for more precise shaving in narrow spots. Releasing the switch unlocks the head.

The pop-out long hair trimmer (4) is activated by sliding it upwards. When using the trimmer, avoid sliding it sideways on the skin to prevent cuts.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is crucial for maintaining optimal shaving performance. The Braun Series 7 720s-4 is a wet cleaning model, meaning the shaver head can be rinsed under running tap water. Before wet cleaning, always disconnect the shaver from the power supply and ensure the electrode area is completely dry. Submerging the entire shaver in water is not recommended.

For wet cleaning:

  1. Apply a commercial hand soap to the foil area.
  2. Switch the shaver on (cordless) and rinse the shaving head under hot running water (around 40°C for best results). Allow the shaver to run for a few more seconds to rinse off all foam.
  3. After rinsing, switch off the shaver, pat dry the main body, and then operate the shaver for 2-3 seconds with the head facing downwards to shake off any remaining water droplets.
  4. Press the Cassette release button (2) to remove the Foil & Cutter cassette (1) and allow it to air dry. Do not wipe the foil surface, as this can damage it.
  5. Once dry, reattach the Foil & Cutter cassette. Apply a drop of the included shaver oil (14) to the foil surface and the long hair trimmer, gently spreading it with a fingertip. Regular oiling is essential to prevent increased friction and premature battery wear due to lubricant removal during wet cleaning.

Alternatively, the shaver can be cleaned using the provided brush (13):

  1. Switch off the shaver. Remove the Foil & Cutter cassette (1) and tap it gently on a flat surface to dislodge hair clippings.
  2. Use the brush to clean the inner area of the pivoting head. Do not use the brush on the foil and cutter cassette itself, as this can cause damage.

The Foil & Cutter cassette (1) should be replaced approximately every 18 months, or when the replacement symbol lights up on the shaver display (9), or if the cassette becomes worn or damaged. The replacement symbol will flash for 7 shaves, then automatically reset. After replacing the cassette, press the Reset button (8) with a ball-point pen for at least 3 seconds to manually reset the counter. During the reset process, the replacement light will blink and then turn off.

When cleaning, avoid using abrasive detergents. The shaver is designed with a "drip-proof" structure, but it should not be submerged in water. The cutting parts are pre-lubricated; if any lubricant leaks, gently wipe it with a tissue. If black powder appears on the skin during initial use, it is not a defect but a result of the stainless steel grinding process; clean the foil with a tissue and the cassette with neutral detergent, then apply shaver oil.

The included shaver oil should be kept out of reach of children and disposed of according to local regulations when empty.
