The Braun Multiquick 5, Type 4184 (MX 2050 / MX 2050 black), is a versatile jug blender designed for a variety of kitchen tasks, from blending liquids to crushing ice. Engineered to meet high standards of quality, functionality, and design, this appliance aims to provide a reliable and efficient blending experience for household use.
Function Description
The core function of the Multiquick 5 is to process food ingredients through its powerful motor and sharp blade system. It is primarily used for blending, puréeing, mixing, emulsifying, and crushing.
- Blending: This function is ideal for combining all types of liquids, drinks, and warm soups. The blender can handle up to 1.75 liters for general blending and 1.50 liters for warm soups, typically completing the task within 40-60 seconds.
- Puréeing: For creating smooth consistencies from vegetables, fruits, sauces, and baby food, the puréeing function is highly effective. It can process up to 1.3 kg of ingredients in 1.5-2 minutes, producing fine textures.
- Mixing: This mode is suitable for preparing batters like pancake batter (up to 1.3 kg in 1 minute) or mixing yogurt-based drinks and desserts (up to 650 g in 1.5-2 minutes).
- Emulsifying: The blender excels at emulsifying, such as making mayonnaise, by combining ingredients like two eggs and 300-400 g of oil within 1-2 minutes.
- Crushing: A notable feature is its ability to crush ice. With the motor switched off, ice cubes are placed in the jug, the lid is replaced, and the motor is switched on to crush up to 180 g (approximately 7 cubes) of ice.
The appliance features a power base (g) housing the motor and a control switch (h) with multiple speed settings and a pulse function. The jug (c) is designed to securely attach to the power base, ensuring safe operation. The blade (e), retainer ring (f), and rubber gasket (d) form the blending mechanism, while the easy-grip lid (b) and measuring cap (a) complete the jug assembly.
Usage Features
The Multiquick 5 is designed for straightforward and safe operation, incorporating several features to enhance user experience.
- Assembly: Before first use, all parts except the power base should be cleaned. The jug assembly involves carefully placing the blade into the retainer ring, positioning the rubber gasket onto the rim of the blade, and then securely screwing the jug into the retainer ring. This modular design allows for easy setup and cleaning.
- Attachment: To attach the jug, ensure the switch (h) is in the "O" (off) position. The jug is then placed on the power base and pushed down until it securely locks into place. The blender will not operate if the jug is not properly attached.
- Operation: Ingredients are placed into the jug, and the lid is firmly secured. The measuring cap is inserted into the lid opening and turned clockwise to lock. The power base is then turned on using the switch (h).
- Speed Settings: The switch offers different speed settings:
- 1-3: For light applications with liquid ingredients.
- 3-5: For thicker consistency, mixing both liquids and solid ingredients.
- Pulse (P): Provides instant power bursts. This setting does not lock, requiring the user to hold the switch in position or repeatedly turn it to the pulse position for controlled blending. This is particularly useful for solid or highly viscous ingredients to prevent the blade from becoming stagnant.
- Ingredient Handling:
- For best puréeing results with solid ingredients, small portions should be fed into the jug gradually.
- Solid ingredients should be cut into small pieces (2-3 cm) before blending.
- When mixing solid ingredients, always start with a small amount of liquid and gradually add more liquid through the lid opening.
- Hot liquids should be allowed to cool to a lukewarm temperature before pouring into the jug.
- When preparing mayonnaise, oil can be added through the drip holes in the lid without removing the measuring cap.
- Safety: The appliance is designed for normal household use and is not intended for use by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities without supervision. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. The blades are very sharp and should be handled with care. The unit will not work without the jug and lid properly assembled and in place. Always operate the unit with a hand positioned on the top of the jug for stability. The voltage must correspond to the type plate on the power base, and the motor must always be turned off ("O") when connecting to an outlet.
- Cord Storage: The power base includes cord storage (i) at the bottom, allowing users to uncoil only the necessary amount of cord and keep the rest neatly stored.
- Removal: After use, always turn the switch to "O" and unplug the power base. To remove the jug, simply lift it straight up; no twisting is required.
Maintenance Features
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the Multiquick 5.
- Power Base Cleaning: The power base should never be immersed in water. It should be wiped clean with a damp cloth only.
- Easy Cleaning/Rinsing of Assembled Jug: For quick cleaning after use, empty the jug, fill it with water, place it on the power base, and turn the switch to the pulse (P) setting several times. Then, empty the jug and rinse it clean.
- Thorough Cleaning of Disassembled Jug: For a more thorough clean, ensure the jug is empty before unscrewing the retainer ring. Exercise caution when handling the blade due to its sharpness. All detachable parts (jug, lid, measuring cap, blade, rubber gasket, retainer ring) are dishwasher-safe, simplifying the cleaning process.
- General Care: Regular checks of the electrical cord for damage are recommended. Any repairs or cord replacements must only be done by authorized service personnel to avoid hazards.
- Environmental Disposal: At the end of its useful life, the product should not be disposed of with household waste. It can be taken to a Braun Service Centre or appropriate collection points provided in the user's country, promoting environmentally responsible disposal.
