The primary function of the Breville Soft Top™ Dual kettle is to rapidly boil drinking water. It operates with a 2400W concealed heating element, ensuring quick boiling times. The kettle is designed with an auto shut-off feature that activates once the water has boiled, and it also includes boil dry protection to prevent damage if the kettle is accidentally switched on without water. The power on/off switch is located on the kettle for easy operation.
The kettle is designed with several user-friendly features to enhance convenience and safety. It has a Soft Open Lid, which can be opened using a lid release button. This design helps to prevent hot water splashes when opening the lid. For safety, the kettle should only be used with the power base supplied and should not be operated on an inclined surface or moved while switched on. It is crucial to ensure the kettle is switched to the 'off' position before removing it from the power base. Maintaining the Breville Soft Top™ Dual kettle involves regular cleaning to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The kettle features a removable mesh filter designed to trap scale deposits, providing cleaner water. To clean the filter, it can be slid up and out of the kettle, rinsed under hot water, and scrubbed with a cleaning cloth or brush. The filter should be checked regularly for damage and replaced if necessary.
Mineral deposits, which can cause discolouration in the kettle's interior and water gauge over time, can be removed using Breville Kettle Cleaner (BKC250) or a proprietary kettle descaler. The cleaning process involves adding 100ml of Breville Kettle Cleaner to 1.6 litres of water, bringing the mixture to a boil, letting it stand for 30 minutes, and then cleaning the spout with a dampened cloth. After emptying the solution, the kettle should be filled with fresh water, brought to a boil, and the boiled water discarded before the kettle is ready for use again.
For cleaning the exterior, the kettle can be wiped with a damp cloth and polished with a soft dry cloth. It is important not to use chemicals, alkaline cleaning agents, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners on either the inside or outside of the kettle, as these can cause damage. A mild cleaning agent with a soft damp cloth is recommended for external cleaning.
Before cleaning or storing, the kettle switch should be in the 'off' position, the power turned off at the outlet, and the plug removed from the power outlet. The power cord should be fully unwound before use and should not be allowed to hang over the edge of a bench or table, touch hot surfaces, or become knotted. Regular inspection of the appliance is recommended. If the power cord, power plug, or appliance becomes damaged, it should be returned to an authorised Breville Service Centre for examination and/or repair. Any maintenance other than cleaning should also be performed at an authorised Breville Service Centre.
