Why is the gate or handle moving during operation of my Brinly BS-26BH-A Spreader?

  If the gate or handle is moving during operation of your Brinly Spreader, it could be due to a loose handle mounting bolt. Try tightening bolt. Alternatively, the hopper-gate assembly bolts may not be tight enough. Tighten these bolts, but be careful not to overtighten them, as this can make the directional control plate difficult to slide. If that happens, loosen the bolts slightly and test the gate and directional control plate movement.

  If the flow control handle on your Brinly Spreader is hard to operate or won't move, the gate and directional control plate may be clogged with material. Remove and clean the gate and directional control plate with soap and water.

Why does the fan not turn when towing my Brinly Spreader?

  There are several reasons why the fan on your Brinly Spreader might not be turning. First, check if the drive hairpin cotter is properly inserted through the wheel hub and axle. If not, install or replace it. Next, verify that the transmission cotter pin is correctly inserted through the transmission hub and axle; install or replace it if necessary. Also, make sure the fan isn't hitting the bottom of the hopper gate and directional control plate; adjust the fan to clear these parts. Ensure the fan isn't slipping on the transmission shaft by correctly installing the Fan Driver so that the fan gussets compress it. Finally, a transmission malfunction could be the cause. To check this, lift the drive wheel with the spreader attached and rotate it while applying gentle pressure to the fan shaft...
