Ecotec 2.4L DOHC VVT SIDI E85 4-cylinder engine – Dual
overhead cams, Variable Valve Timing and direct fuel injection
give Regal excellent low-end torque response that smoothly
builds torque to its peak at 4900 rpm. E85 FlexFuel capability
is added for 2012. Standard on Regal 1SL, Premium I and
Premium II equipment groups.

Ecotec 2.4L DOHC VVT SIDI 4-cylinder engine with eAssist
This available engine gives Regal fuel economy you’d expect
on hybrids, but without sacrificing power or adding the
increased weight of some competitive hybrid systems. eAssist
helps Regal capture and reuse energy that would otherwise
be lost. The technology can also provide added performance
at highway speeds. Available on Regal 1SL, Premium I and
Premium II equipment groups.

eAssist and Regenerative Braking – Included with the Ecotec
2.4L eAssist 4-cylinder engine. This fuel-saving technology
uses the momentum of the car to spin a motor-generator that
creates electricity. That electricity is stored in an advanced
battery pack. The process captures, recycles and stores energy
that would otherwise be lost. The powertrain’s state-of-
the-art lithium-ion 115V battery and 15kW electric motor-
generator enhance fuel economy by:
Providing electric power assistance during acceleration. This
results in a final drive ratio of 2.64, which requires less work
for the engine at cruising speeds and less fuel consumption.
Providing fuel cutoff when coming to a stop and automatic
engine shutoff when Regal is stopped.

Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) SIDI creates more
power from less fuel. The process injects fuel directly into
the combustion chamber that increases efficiency and
horsepower, and also reduces emissions. Cold-start
emissions are reduced by up to 25%. Standard.
6-speed automatic transmissions with overdrive The 2.4L
Ecotec and the 2.4L Ecotec with eAssist engines benefit
from sophisticated transmissions. Both transmissions were
engineered specifically for Regal and feature next-generation
enhancements. Gear ratios have been optimized to offer
smooth acceleration and comfort for cruising.
Driver Shift Control Provides sporty clutchless manual
shifting. Standard on automatic transmission models.
Automatic Grade Braking Keeps the transmission in a lower
gear when braking or coasting on downgrades to help reduce
brake wear. Standard.

RIDE & HANDLING
4-wheel independent suspension Regal’s responsive
suspension tuning and agile handling provide fun-to-drive
dynamics that are balanced with the comfort and refined ride
quality you expect from Buick.
Front suspension MacPherson strut coil-over-spring design
with hollow direct-acting stabilizer bar. The suspension works
in concert with other chassis components to optimize body
and wheel control. Use of robust, yet lightweight aluminum
components helps to reduce unsprung weight for enhanced
handling response and fuel efficiency.
Rear suspension Four-link independent rear suspension with
hollow stabilizer bar. Advanced rear suspension geometry
adds to Regal’s stable ride. The rear configuration contributes
to exceptional ride tracking characteristics—even on rough
surfaces—and enhances drivability. Aluminum used for the
lower link helps reduce weight and enhance handling.

4-wheel disc ABS with Brake Assist A four-channel
ABS system with Brake Assist is standard. Non-Turbo model
