Drill holes for bypass installation

Drill 1/16 holes through the bypass and formers for #2x5/8" SHCS.

Behotec JB220 Installation

Mark tailpipe bell location

Mark the tailpipe bell location on the hatch flange using a ruler.

Remove screws attaching tailpipe

Remove screws attaching the tailpipe to stock turbine rails, slide tailpipe aft.

Drill holes for bypass and formers

Drill 1/16 holes through the bypass and into the forward/aft formers.

Mark opening for wires

Mark an opening for wires in front of the former for electrical connections.

Remove front socket head screws

Remove the front socket head cap screws from both stock turbine rails.

Remove rear socket head screws

Remove the rear socket head tapered screws from both stock turbine rails.

Remove stock turbine rails and bypass bottom

Remove the stock turbine rails and the bottom portion of the bypass.

Cut hole for wires in bypass

Cut out the marked hole for the wires in the bottom of the bypass.

Install bypass using SHCS

Install the bypass using #2x5/8" SHCS into the drilled holes.

Install custom BVM turbine rails

Install the custom BVM turbine rails using existing screws from stock rails.

Align tailpipe between turbine rails

Align the tailpipe using marks and ensure it's centered between the turbine rails.

Pre-drill holes for tailpipe

Pre-drill 1/16" holes for the tailpipe and secure it with #2x5/8" SHCS.

Drill drain holes in bypass

Drill two 3/32" drain holes in the bypass bottom for fire safety.

Set up turbine brackets and install engine

Set up turbine brackets, install engine, and secure screw holes with thin CA.

Cut notch in bypass top for fuel lines

Cut a notch in the bypass top for fuel lines and coat with Heat Shield.

Route fuel lines and cables

Route the fuel lines and cables to the engine from the front of the model.

Install engine components under cockpit

Install engine components under the cockpit compartment per manufacturer's instructions.

Mounting RX and Turbine Batteries

Attaching Wing Tip Rails

Aileron Linkage Adjustment

Installing the Wings

Lubricate wing tubes with Dry Lube

Lubricate the wing tubes with Dry Lube to ease installation and removal.

Connect Aileron servo and clip

Connect the Aileron servo plug and install a servo clip for secure connection.

Connect NAV light plug

Connect the NAV light plug to its designated port.

Insert wires into wing

Insert wires into the wing while installing it onto the fuselage.

Slot wing bolt hole if needed

Slot the forward wing bolt hole to accommodate the hex drive with main gear down.

Tighten front and rear clamp bolts

Tighten the front and rear clamp bolts using a 9/64" hex driver.

Lubricating the Brakes

Center of Gravity (CG) Setup

Measure and drill CG hole

Measure aft of the fuselage joint and drill a 1/16" hole for CG reference.

Install #2 button head screw

Install a #2 button head screw on each side at the CG location.

Balance model with correct CG

Balance the fully assembled model with empty tanks and gear down for level balance.

Control Surface Deflections and Expo Settings

Use templates for control setup

Cut templates from the manual and use them with tape to align for control setup.

Connecting Receiver (RX) Wires

Check flight controls before flight

Important: Always check the direction of all flight controls before each flight.

First Flight Profile

First flight with gyro off

Make the first flight with the Gyro system turned off. Refer to BVM article 'Gyro Sense'.

Flight Time recommendation

Set transmitter timer for 7 min; land early on first flight to check fuel consumption.

Taxi Test;Engine Run Up procedures

Perform a taxi test including range check, brake check, and fuel system bubble check.

Takeoff procedure

Begin takeoff roll slowly, maintain runway center, use up elevator, and be ready for crosswinds.

Trim procedure

Set trims in air for straight and level flight; adjust for landing gear deployment.

Practice Approaches guidance

Practice approaches and go-arounds to become familiar with low-speed handling.

Landing procedure

Land with power on, nose high, touching main wheels first.

Torque Drive Pocket Reinforcement Check

Rudder pocket reinforcement procedure

Drill and inject Aeropoxy into the rudder pocket flange to reinforce it.

Stabilator pocket reinforcement procedure

Reinforce stab torque drive pockets by drilling and injecting Aeropoxy.
