Traffic signage identification system (when equipped)
The traffic sign recognition (TSR) recognizes the road speed limit signs through the
multifunctional video controller, and the speed limit reminder icon lights up on the
instrument to remind the driver to control the speed within a reasonable range.
Methods for use
■ The user can turn the traffic sign recognition function on or off via the Multimedia →
Dipilot settings screen. When the vehicle is started, the system defaults to the last
set state.
■ When the system can recognize the speed limit sign on the vehicle traveling path,
the corresponding recognized speed limit reminder icon (e.g. ) will be
displayed on the instrument. When the speed displayed on the instrument is more
than 5km/h above the recognized speed limit, the instrument speed limit icon will
flash to remind the user not to drive over the speed limit. After the system
recognizes the release of the speed limit reminder icon or the vehicle is driven for a
certain distance, The speed limit reminder icon disappears.
Note:
■ The speed limit icon on the instrument will disappear within a certain distance range
after being recognized by the system. The driver should control the speed within a
reasonable range.
■ TSR can only recognize the speed limit signs and doesn’t participate in the active
vehicle control. The driver is always responsible for the vehicle control and should
drive reasonably.
■ When multiple speed limit signs appear on side-by-side lanes, the system will
recognize the speed limit sign on the current lane for the display of the speed limit
reminder icon, and the driver must ensure that the vehicle is driven on the correct
lane.
■ Nonstandard weight limit signs that aren’t consistent with the size requirements of
the state may be recognized as the speed limit signs, resulting in misrecognition.
■ If the speed limit signs on the road are unclear, distorted, inclined, reflective,
partially blocked or covered, etc., a decline in the recognition capability or
recognition failure will be caused to the camera.
■ The performance of TSR is affected by the weather, lighting and visibility of road
signs. Under the conditions of night, poor light, sunset, rain, fog, haze, snow, sand,
sudden brightness change, etc., the recognition capability may be declined,
resulting a recognition failure of speed limit signs.
■ When the vehicle is involved in a collision or the camera sensor is reassembled, it is
recommended to contact an authorized BYD Auto service store to calibrate the
sensor to avoid affecting the performance of the system.
