Overview

The URRS-12T Ultrasonic Rodent Repellent System is a sophisticated device designed to deter rodents from an area using ultrasonic waves. This system is manufactured by C Systems Pvt Ltd and comes with an installation manual that details its setup, operation, and features.

Function Description:

The core function of the URRS-12T is to emit ultrasonic frequencies that are irritating to rodents, thereby encouraging them to leave the protected area. The system consists of a control panel and multiple transducers. The control panel acts as the central unit, managing the ultrasonic output and allowing for user interaction. The transducers are the components responsible for emitting the ultrasonic waves. The system is designed to provide continuous protection against rodents in various environments. The ultrasonic waves are typically inaudible to humans but are highly effective in creating an uncomfortable environment for rodents, disrupting their communication and navigation, and ultimately driving them away. The system's effectiveness relies on the proper placement and connection of these transducers to ensure comprehensive coverage of the desired area.

Usage Features:

The URRS-12T control panel is equipped with a 2x16 alphanumeric LCD with a backlight, which provides clear visual feedback on the system's status and menu navigation. A Power ON LED indicator is also present to confirm that the device is receiving power. For user interaction, the panel features four keys that facilitate menu navigation, allowing users to access and adjust various settings.

The system incorporates a power amplifier output specifically designed for connecting the ultrasonic transducers. This ensures that the transducers receive adequate power to emit effective ultrasonic waves. A notable feature for maintenance and verification is the audible tone for transducer testing. This allows users to quickly check if all connected transducers are functioning correctly by emitting a sound that is audible to humans.

The URRS-12T offers user-selectable wave sweep time and wave sweep delay settings. The default sweep time is configurable from 1 ms to 10 ms, with a factory default of 1 ms. The wave sweep delay can be set from 1 second to 10 seconds, with a default of 2 seconds. These adjustable parameters allow for customization of the ultrasonic emission pattern, potentially enhancing the system's effectiveness against different types of rodents or in varying environments.

For remote monitoring of the system's health, a volt-free contact is provided in the panel. This contact allows external systems, such as a Building Management System (BMS), to monitor the power-on and healthy status of the URRS-12T panel. This integration capability is crucial for large-scale installations where centralized monitoring is desired.

Navigating the menu of the URRS-12T is straightforward, utilizing the Up, Down, Enter, and Exit keys. To access the main menu, the "Enter" key is pressed. The system comes with all parameters factory programmed, meaning no manual settings are typically required for initial operation.

A key feature for verifying the system's functionality is the transducer test. To initiate this test, users press "Enter" from the main screen and then use the up/down keys to navigate to "TEST Transducers." Pressing "Enter" again will activate an audible sound from all transducers, confirming their normal operation. This quick test is invaluable for troubleshooting and ensuring continuous protection.

The system also allows for customization of the "SITE NAME." Users can navigate to "SITE NAME" using the UP/DOWN keys, press "Enter" to edit the name, and then press "Enter" again to save the changes and exit. This feature is useful for identifying specific installations, especially in environments with multiple URRS-12T systems.

Modbus Integration:

For advanced monitoring and control, the URRS-12T supports MODBUS RTU protocol. All parameters transmitted within the panel can be monitored through any standard BMS. This integration capability allows for seamless incorporation of the rodent repellent system into existing building automation and control infrastructures, providing comprehensive oversight and management. Detailed information regarding Modbus integration is available in a separate Modbus document.

Installation and Maintenance Features:

The installation process for the URRS-12T is designed for ease and flexibility. The control panel should be located near an electrical power socket (approximately 5A AC). It can be fixed using the keyholes provided at the back of the panel, eliminating the need for additional brackets or accessories for mounting. Proper earthing is emphasized to prevent unnecessary leakage current and ensure safety. It is also recommended to check the proper voltage at the AC socket before installation.

The transducers are designed to cover a specific area, with the exact coverage depending on the model. Each transducer consists of two parts: a top cover and a bottom lid. For mounting, a ¾ inch or 1-inch electrical junction box can be used, as the holes in the dummy plate of the junction box are designed to align perfectly with the holes in the transducer's bottom lid. After termination of the wiring, the top cover can be pressed over the bottom lid, securing it in place with a press-and-lock mechanism.

Transducers can be connected to the controller either via separate cables or by connecting them in parallel, offering flexibility in wiring configurations. The maximum distance from the panel to the last transducer can be up to 130m if looping is desired (as illustrated in Fig-B of the manual). It is specified that cables should be run in either GI (Galvanized Iron) or PVC conduit for protection and neatness.

The system's design, including the audible transducer test and the volt-free contact for status monitoring, contributes to straightforward maintenance. The factory-programmed parameters minimize the need for frequent adjustments, making the system largely self-sufficient once installed. The Modbus integration further enhances maintenance by allowing remote diagnostics and status checks through a BMS.
