The CADstar CS.Neo2 / CS.Neo2 Pro / CS.Neo2 Max is an optical 3D scanner designed for the dental field, specifically for measuring and digitizing jaw models in three dimensions. It operates on the principle of "fringe light scanning," where a fringe light pattern is projected onto the object to be measured. The distortion of this light pattern, caused by the object's structure, is then registered by high-resolution cameras installed in the scanner unit, processed, and digitized into a virtual three-dimensional model.
Function Description:
The scanner's primary function is the three-dimensional, optical measurement of duplicated human structures in conjunction with its supplied software. It is intended for use in dental laboratories. The device is designed to accept impressions and plaster models of jaws, as well as articulators with plaster models, with a maximum weight of 1500 g and dimensions of 200 mm (W) x 200 mm (L) x 150 mm (H). The CS.Neo2 Max model offers an extended measuring range, allowing for larger objects. The scanner is not an automatically functioning device; it requires manual loading of objects. Each accessory used with the scanner has its own ID recognition, allowing the device to identify what is currently inside and perform appropriate functions. The scanner also features an LED indication bar that communicates various operational states, such as no software connection (white pulsating), error (red), calibration (rainbow), and scan progress (blue progress bar).

Usage Features:
The scanner is designed for safe and ergonomic operation. It can be carried by one person using two designated carrying points (11-13 kg weight). The setup area should be level, vibration-free, clean, and dust-free, avoiding direct sunlight, flickering lights, or proximity to heat sources. The scanner requires Windows 10 or newer, with updated drivers for graphics card, USB host, and motherboard. Administrator rights are needed for software installation. The software includes a calibration function, which should be performed weekly or after transport/relocation, using the provided calibration plate. The scanner is loaded manually, and the scanning process is initiated via the software. Users can create new cases and fill in mandatory fields such as patient, doctor, model type, and scan mode type. The scanner features a swivel arm that moves during power-on and scanning, and users are warned not to reach into this danger area to prevent finger injuries.
Maintenance Features:
Regular cleaning and calibration are essential for maintaining product life and scanning accuracy.
- Cleaning: Before cleaning, the scanner must be unplugged. Only dry cloths should be used. The scanner can be vacuumed or blown out, but care must be taken with optical elements to avoid misalignment. The optical sensors in the upper part of the scanner are extremely sensitive and should only be dusted gently with a microfiber cloth. Water, steam, or cleaning agents are prohibited.
- Recalibration: Weekly recalibration using the supplied calibration plate is recommended to ensure consistent scan results. Calibration is also required after transport or relocation. The calibration plate itself should not be cleaned, and its circles must not be damaged, as touching them can affect calibration accuracy.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a FAQ section for common issues such as the scanner not starting, not being recognized by the PC, visible stripes in scan results (due to light changes or flickering light), and holes in scan results (which can be fixed using the "Integrate" tool or by spraying dark spots with scan spray).
- Repair: Due to sensitive components and sensor technology, repair work must only be carried out by CADstar Technology service personnel.
- Disposal: The scanner is an electronic device intended for commercial/industrial environments only and must not be disposed of through public waste management authorities. It can be returned to the dealer or manufacturer for proper disposal.
