Overview

This document provides installation and operation instructions for the XINS2318-1 and XINS2318-2LOG electric fireplaces. It emphasizes important safety information, operational guidelines, and maintenance procedures to ensure safe and effective use.

Function Description:

The XINS2318-1 and XINS2318-2LOG are electric fireplaces designed to provide a simulated flame effect and supplemental heating. They feature a fan-forced electric heater with two heat settings (800W and 1500W) and a timer function. The fireplaces are intended for indoor use and require a fireplace mantel for installation. The simulated flame effect is created by illuminating light bulbs, providing an aesthetic appeal similar to a traditional fireplace without the need for burning wood or other materials. Both models include control buttons on the unit and a remote control for convenient operation.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Cleaning: Before cleaning, turn the heater OFF and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Allow the appliance to cool for at least 10 minutes. Keep combustible materials at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) away from the fireplace. Use a vacuum or duster to clean heat and vent areas. The exterior should be cleaned with a damp cloth or duster; avoid abrasive cleaners or liquid sprays.
  • Light Bulb Replacement: The flame effect light bulbs may need replacement over time. To replace them:
    1. Turn off power and unplug the insert.
    2. Slide the fireplace mantel away from the wall to access the back.
    3. Locate the access panel on the back of the insert.
    4. Remove screws in the access panel using a Phillips screwdriver.
    5. Open the door and replace the light bulbs. It is recommended to replace both bulbs at the same time.
    6. Reinstall the access panel by reversing steps 1-4. Note: Replacement light bulbs are not supplied by the manufacturer but can be purchased at home centers or hardware stores.
  • Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting guide is provided to address common issues such as no power, indicator lights on but no flame effect, log glow but no flame, or flame and logs glow but no heat. It advises checking power connections, circuit breakers/fuses, light bulbs, flame spinner connections, and heater switch settings. For persistent issues or electrical repairs, it strongly recommends contacting a qualified professional.
  • Safety Warnings: The manual emphasizes critical safety precautions, including not operating the heater with a damaged cord or plug, avoiding outdoor use, keeping combustible materials away, and ensuring proper grounding. It warns against opening the back panel or performing electrical repairs unless qualified. Discontinue use if water damage, dropping, denting, hot power cord, or smoke/smell occurs.
