Overview

This document provides instructions for the Campingaz Camp'Bistro 2 stove, a portable gas cooking appliance designed for outdoor use. The stove is intended for use with Campingaz CP250/CP250 SP cartridges and is not compatible with other gas containers. It features a compact design, making it suitable for camping, picnics, and other outdoor activities where a reliable cooking source is needed.

Function Description

The Campingaz Camp'Bistro 2 stove functions as a single-burner cooking appliance, providing a controlled flame for heating and cooking food. It operates on butane direct pressure, drawing fuel from a gas cartridge to produce a flame at the burner. The stove is equipped with a piezo-electric lighter, which generates a spark to ignite the gas, eliminating the need for external ignition sources like matches or lighters. The flame intensity can be adjusted using a control knob, allowing users to regulate the heat from a full flow (MAX) to a medium flow (MIN) position.

A key safety feature of the Camp'Bistro 2 is its automatic cartridge disconnection system. If the gas pressure in the cartridge becomes too high, a built-in device will disconnect the cartridge, and the lever will return to the "UNLOCK" position. This prevents potential hazards associated with overpressure. The stove is designed to be used on a stable, horizontal surface and should not be moved while in operation. It is crucial to allow the stove to cool down completely before handling or storing it.

The stove is specifically designed for outdoor use and must not be operated in enclosed areas such as caravans, cars, tents, huts, sheds, or any small, confined spaces. This is because the combustion process consumes oxygen and produces carbon monoxide, an odorless and dangerous gas that can cause serious health issues or even death if ventilation is inadequate. Users are advised to maintain a safe distance from walls (at least 20 cm) and ceilings (at least 1 meter) to ensure proper ventilation and prevent heat damage.

Usage Features

The Camp'Bistro 2 stove emphasizes ease of use and safety during operation. Before installing a gas cartridge, users must ensure that the ignition button is set to the "OFF" position and the cartridge lever is in the "UNLOCK" position. The cartridge compartment cover (3) needs to be opened to access the housing. The gas cartridge (8) is then installed by aligning its slot "F" upwards and engaging the cartridge guide "G" firmly into the slot. Once the cartridge is in place, the lever (2) is moved to the "LOCK" position to secure it, and the compartment cover is closed. It is important to verify that the seal between the stove and the gas container is present and in good condition before connecting the cartridge.

To light the burner, the control knob (1) is turned anti-clockwise until a click is heard, indicating a spark from the piezo-electric lighter. If the stove does not light after a few attempts, users should turn the control knob to the "OFF" position, check if the cartridge contains gas (by shaking it to hear liquid sloshing), and then repeat the ignition process. The flame can be adjusted by turning the ignition knob between the "MAX" and "MIN" settings to achieve the desired heat level. For extinguishing the flame, the ignition knob (1) is turned clockwise to the "OFF" position.

When changing an empty cartridge or removing a cartridge for storage, the stove must be fully cooled down. The gas inlet should be completely closed by turning the control knob to the "OFF" position, and the burner should be extinguished. The cartridge is then disconnected by moving the lever (2) to the "UNLOCK" position, opening the compartment cover, and lifting the cartridge out. It is important never to dispose of a cartridge that is not completely empty. If the safety device activates due to high gas pressure, the cartridge must be removed and allowed to cool down (e.g., by running it under water) before being reinstalled or replaced with a new one. The safety device needs to be reset by following a specific sequence of knob and lever movements before the stove can be used again.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring the longevity and safe operation of the Campingaz Camp'Bistro 2 stove. After each use, once the stove has completely cooled, it should be cleaned. The main stove body, pan support (4), and the exterior of the cartridge cover (3) can be wiped with warm water and a cloth after the cartridge has been removed.

The burner (5) is a critical component that requires attention. Dirty burner holes can obstruct the flame, leading to inefficient operation. Users are advised to clean the flame holes of the burner head with a metal brush to remove any debris or residue.

The piezo ignition electrode (6) is responsible for generating the spark that ignites the gas. If this electrode gets wet, the stove may not light. Therefore, it is important to ensure that any water is removed from the electrode and that it is thoroughly dried with a cloth before attempting to light the stove.

For storage and transportation, it is imperative to always remove the gas cartridge from the stove. The cartridge lever (2) should be in the "UNLOCK" position. The stove and cartridge should be stored separately in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, out of reach of children. It is specifically recommended not to store the stove in a basement or cellar.

The manual also provides a troubleshooting guide to help users identify and resolve common issues such as the cartridge not installing, no gas supply, gas smell, low or uneven flame, faulty ignition, or extinction during operation. For example, if the cartridge is incorrectly installed, the guide suggests fitting the cartridge guide into the cartridge slot. If burner holes are clogged, cleaning them with a metal brush is recommended. For more complex issues like ignition knob malfunction or persistent problems, users are advised to contact a local agent for repair.
