Overview

The CAMRY EH101 is an electronic hand dynamometer designed to measure handgrip strength. It provides a user-friendly interface for setting up individual profiles, taking measurements, and reviewing results, making it suitable for personal use, fitness tracking, and isometric exercises.

Function Description:

The primary function of the EH101 is to accurately measure handgrip strength in both pounds (lbs) and kilograms (kgs). It allows users to track their progress over time by storing individual profiles and measurement records. The device also includes a reference table to compare individual results with average measurements for different age and gender groups (male and female). This feature helps users understand their strength relative to a broader population. Beyond simple measurement, the dynamometer can be used as a tool for isometric handgrip exercises, providing a structured approach to improving grip strength.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Unit: The device supports measurements in both pounds (lbs) and kilograms (kgs). The default unit is lbs, but users can toggle between lbs and kgs by pressing the ON/SET button.
  • Max Capacity: The maximum weight capacity for measurement is 198 lbs or 90 kgs.
  • Division: The measurement resolution is 0.2 lbs or 0.1 kgs, indicating the smallest increment the device can detect.
  • Tolerance: The accuracy of the measurements is within ±0.5 kg or ±1 lb.
  • Power: The EH101 is powered by two 1.5V AAA batteries.
  • Operation Environment: The device is designed to operate within a temperature range of 0-95°F and a relative humidity range of 30-90%.

Usage Features:

  • Adjustable Handle: Before taking a measurement, the handle can be adjusted up or down by turning an adjustment knob. This allows users to achieve an ideal grasp, ensuring the second joint of the index finger is at a 90-degree angle to the handle. Turning the handle to the right raises it for larger hands, while turning it to the left lowers it for smaller hands.
  • User Profiles: The device can store up to 19 user profiles. When setting up, the user number blinks, allowing selection of a profile using the up or down arrows.
  • Gender and Age Input: Users can input their gender (male or female) and age. The gender icon flashes, and users can switch between male and female using the up or down arrows. Similarly, the age icon flashes, allowing users to increase or decrease their age with the up or down arrows. All changes are confirmed by pressing the START button, or users can go back by pressing ON/SET.
  • Measurement Process: To measure handgrip strength, the user holds the dynamometer with the base resting on the first metacarpal and the handle on the middle of the four fingers. The arm should be bent at 90 degrees with the elbow at the side of the body. The user then squeezes the dynamometer as hard as possible for 5 seconds. The maximum handgrip strength achieved will be displayed. No other body movement is allowed during the measurement.
  • Zeroing the Device: After a measurement, the START button can be pressed to zero out the dynamometer, preparing it for repeat tests.
  • Quick Test Mode: The device offers a Quick Test Mode, which can be entered by pressing the START button.
  • Recalling Measurements: When the device is off, pressing the down arrow/memory button allows users to view their saved records. The ON/SET button can be used to switch between LB and KG units when reviewing measurements.
  • Saving Records: The device stores only one record per user. To save or update a record, the down arrow/memory button must be pressed after a measurement is complete.
  • Isometric Exercise Guide: The manual provides a guide for isometric exercises:
    1. Measure maximum handgrip strength.
    2. Squeeze 1/3 of the maximum grip for 2 minutes for each hand, with one minute of rest between.
    3. Perform 3 repetitions, totaling 12 minutes.
    4. Perform this exercise 3 to 5 days a week.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The device should be cleaned by wiping it with a dry cloth.
  • Chemical Avoidance: Harsh chemicals or cleaners should not be used on the device to prevent damage.
  • Battery Handling:
    • When inserting or replacing batteries, users must pay attention to the battery polarities.
    • If the device will not be used for an extended period, the batteries should be removed to prevent leakage and potential damage.
  • Screen Protection: Users should avoid touching the LED screen to prevent damage or smudges.

The CAMRY EH101 is designed for ease of use and durability, providing a reliable tool for monitoring and improving handgrip strength.
