Overview

This document is a user manual for the Candy Holiday 161 washing machine, providing instructions in Russian, Ukrainian, and English. It covers various aspects of the appliance, from initial setup to troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Candy Holiday 161 is a washing machine designed for household use, offering a range of wash programs to cater to different fabric types and levels of soiling. It aims to provide efficient and effective cleaning while ensuring user safety and ease of maintenance. The machine features a front-loading design with a drum for laundry, a detergent drawer, and a control panel for program selection and settings adjustment.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual provides a table of technical specifications:

  • Maximum Wash Load (Dry): 4 kg
  • Normal Water Level: 13.5 liters
  • Economic Water Level: 9.5 liters
  • Power Input: 1900 W
  • Energy Consumption (Program 2): 1.08 kWh
  • Power Current Fuse Amp: 10 A
  • Spin Speed: 600 r.p.m.
  • Water Pressure: min. 0.05 MPa, max. 0.8 MPa
  • Supply Voltage: 230 V
  • Dimensions: 33 cm (width) x 85 cm (height) x 60 cm (depth)

These specifications highlight the machine's capacity and energy efficiency for typical household use.

Usage Features

The washing machine offers several features for user convenience and optimal washing results:

Control Panel: The control panel includes:

  • Detergent Drawer (A): Divided into four compartments for prewash detergent (I), main wash detergent (II), bleach (III), and special additives like softeners, perfumes, starches, or whiteners (IV).
  • Door Open Button (B): A safety device prevents immediate opening after a wash/spin cycle; a 2-minute wait is required.
  • Off/On Button (C): Powers the machine on and off.
  • Reduced Water Level Button (D): For small loads, this button reduces water consumption, saving electricity, detergent, and water. However, it's not recommended for pure new wool or delicate fabrics that require more water.
  • No Spin Button (E): Eliminates spin-drying for all programs, suitable for special treated fabrics (cottonova, permanent press) or mixed delicate fabrics, especially at 90°C and 60°C.
  • Rinse Hold Button (F): Stops the machine with the final rinse water in the drum for mixed fabrics and wool, preventing creasing. Releasing the button completes the program with water drainage and a delicate spin. To drain water without spinning, select "Z" on the timer knob, release the rinse hold button, and press the On/Off button again.
  • Wash Control Temperature Knob (I): Allows reducing, but not increasing, the wash cycle temperature. It rotates in both directions. Users must ensure the selected temperature does not exceed the maximum recommended for the program.
  • Timer Knob for Wash Programmes (L): Selects the desired wash program by rotating it clockwise. Users are advised not to press the On/Off button before selecting a program.
  • Off/On Indicator Light (N): Illuminates when the machine is on.

Program Selection: The machine categorizes programs into three bands based on fabric type, temperature, and cycle length:

  1. Resistant Fabrics: Designed for maximum wash and rinses with spin intervals, ensuring perfect rinsing. Gradual water temperature reduction minimizes creasing, and the final spin is efficient.
  2. Mixed and Synthetic Fabrics: Pre-wash and main wash cycles are optimized with drum rotation rhythms. High water levels during rinses ensure delicate treatment.
  3. Special Delicate Fibres: A new wash cycle alternating washing and soaking, ideal for very delicate fabrics like Pure Machine Washable Wool. High water levels are used for both wash and rinses.

Detergent Usage: The detergent drawer has specific compartments for prewash, main wash, bleach, and additives. Liquid products should only be used in the bleach and additive compartments. For some detergents that are difficult to remove, using a special container placed directly in the drum is advised.

Loading Guidelines:

  • Maximum load for heavy fabrics is 4 kg.
  • For delicate fabrics, do not exceed 2 kg (1 kg for machine washable pure new wool) to prevent creasing.
  • A net bag is recommended for particularly delicate fabrics.
  • Avoid washing loads entirely of towelling fabric, as it absorbs a lot of water and becomes too heavy.

Customer Awareness (Environmentally Friendly Use):

  • Maximize Load Size: Use the recommended maximum load to save up to 50% energy compared to two half loads.
  • Pre-wash: Only for heavily soiled laundry. Skipping pre-wash for lightly soiled laundry saves detergent, time, water, and 5-15% energy.
  • Hot Wash: Pretreat stains with stain remover or soak dried stains in water to reduce the need for a hot wash program. Using a 60°C wash program can save up to 50% energy.

Maintenance Features

The manual outlines routine maintenance steps to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the washing machine:

Cleaning and Routine Maintenance:

  • Exterior Cleaning: Use a damp cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners, spirits, or diluents.
  • Detergent Drawer Cleaning: Periodically clean the detergent, bleach, and additives compartments. This involves gently pulling out the compartments, washing them with water, and then replacing them.
  • Filter Cleaning: The machine has a special filter to trap foreign objects (coins, buttons, etc.) that could clog the drain. To clean it:
    1. Ease off the base panel.
    2. Use the base as a tray to collect leftover water.
    3. Turn the filter anticlockwise until it stops in a vertical position.
    4. Remove and clean the filter.
    5. Replace the filter by turning the notch clockwise, following the reverse order of removal.

Removals or Long Periods When the Machine is Left Standing:

  • If the machine is to be moved or left unused for long periods in unheated rooms, all remaining water must be drained from the machine and hoses.
  • To drain: Switch off and unplug the appliance. Detach the drainage hose from its clamp, lower it over a bowl until all water is removed. Repeat for the water inlet hose.
  • After draining, secure the drainage hose back in its clamp.

Safety Measures: The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Always unplug the machine and turn off the water inlet tap before any cleaning or maintenance.
  • Ensure the electricity circuit is earthed.
  • Do not touch the appliance with wet hands or feet, or use it barefoot.
  • Avoid using adaptors, multiple plugs, or extension leads in wet areas.
  • Do not allow children or incompetent individuals to use the machine unsupervised.
  • Do not pull the mains lead or the appliance itself to unplug it.
  • Do not expose the machine to atmospheric agents.
  • Do not lean the door against a trolley during transport.
  • Lift the appliance in pairs as illustrated.
  • If installed on carpeted floors, ensure bottom vents are not obstructed.
  • In case of malfunction, turn off the machine, close the water tap, and contact a Candy Technical Assistance Centre, requesting original spare parts.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a specific cable available from the after-sales service centre.
  • Before opening the door, ensure there is no water in the drum.
  • Water temperature can reach 90°C during the washing cycle.

Installation:

  • Remove all packaging elements, including the central rod, side screws, and plastic spacers from the back of the machine.
  • Level the machine using the front feet.
  • Connect the fill hose to the tap and the discharge hose to a fixed outlet or the edge of a bathtub, ensuring no bends or contractions. The discharge hose should be at a minimum height of 50 cm.
  • Ensure the Off/On button is not pressed, all knobs are at "0," and the door is closed before plugging in.
  • The plug must be accessible after installation.
  • Press the START button (C) to turn on the machine; the power on light (N) should illuminate.

This comprehensive manual ensures users can operate and maintain their Candy Holiday 161 washing machine safely and effectively.
