Do you have a question about the Car-O-Liner B73 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Car-O-Liner B73 and B731 Clamping and Support Systems are designed for high-quality repairs of collision-damaged vehicles, specifically full-frame vehicles, pick-up trucks, sports utilities, and vans. These systems are compatible with all Car-O-Liner bench repair systems, with the exception of the Speed bench repair system. The B73 kit is configured primarily for the vehicle population outside of North America, while the B731 kit is tailored for the North American vehicle population.

Function Description

The primary function of the B73 and B731 systems is to securely clamp and support vehicles on a repair bench during alignment work. This ensures stability and precision throughout the repair process. The systems utilize various clamping jaws, adapters, and support components to accommodate different vehicle frame types and anchoring points.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Clamping and Support Systems: B73 and B731 are distinct kits with configurations optimized for different regional vehicle populations.
  • Bench Mountings: The B34 Bench Mountings (B34MK and B34BR) are crucial for securing the clamping system to the repair bench.
    • B73 kit includes 2 x B213 bench mountings.
    • B731 kit recommends 4 x B213 bench mountings (part no. 49956).
  • Clamping Units:
    • B250 Clamp: Primarily used for front clamping. It can be configured with various clamping jaws and support spacers (e.g., B250-E1, B250-E2, B250-G1, B250-G2, B250-H1, B250-H3, B250-H4, B250-H6).
    • B260 Clamp: Primarily used for rear clamping, especially to the leaf spring bracket. It can also be used as a B250 base plate for front clamping when 4 x B250-E1/E2 clamping is required. It utilizes various clamping jaws and components (e.g., B260-E4, B260-E5, B260-E9, B260-E91, B156-A2, B156-B6).
  • Tightening Torque:
    • Bench mountings to the bench: Maximum 200 Nm when using an air wrench to prevent damage.
    • All bolts attached to B250/B260: Maximum 150 Nm, tightened by hand.
  • B34BR Bench Mounting Improvement: The vertical center pillar of the B34 Bench Mounting is extended inwards by 20 mm for increased stiffness.
  • Reinforcement Plate for B34BR (B34-1, part no. 50254): This plate is designed for wide anchoring with B250/B260 when the outer bracket is wider than the bend of the reinforcement plate. Standard cam locks must be removed before tightening the reinforcement plate to the bench mounting.
  • Extended B250/B260 Baseplate: The new extended baseplate makes it possible to get strong and wide clamping around the wider vertical center pillar. The entire base can be rotated 180° when needed.
  • Support for High Anchoring: The B73 kit includes 2 pcs E175 Torque Bars and E141/E130 components for high anchoring setups.
  • Support Spacer Conversion (for B731 users):
    • H1 mounted upside down in the E2 Clamp is replaced by H6.
    • B250-H1 is replaced by B250-H4.
    • B250-H3 is replaced by B250-H4.
    • Note: The difference in clamping height only affects Car-O-Mech users.
  • Clamping Jaw Conversion (for B731 users):
    • B260-E9 is replaced by B260-E91 (E91 can always replace E9, but not the opposite).
    • B260-E4 is replaced by B260-E5.
    • B250-E2 has a new partner, B250-E21. B250-E21 can be used as B250-E2 for tight clamping, utilizing a standard M20 nut in the recessed pocket.
    • B250-E1 is replaced by B250-E2 and B250-E21.
    • B250-E21 cannot be used with B250-G1.
    • B250-E2 can be used with B250-G1.
    • B156-A5 is replaced by B156-A20 (A20 can always replace A5, but not the opposite).

Usage Features

  • Vehicle Setup Procedure:
    1. Position the pillar jacks under the lifting points and tighten them to the bench.
    2. Carefully lower the vehicle from the ramps to allow the bench mountings and rear chassis clamps to be fitted.
    3. Remove the side ramps from under the rear wheels. Raise the bench carefully so that the chassis clamps are correctly positioned.
    4. Remove the pillar jacks from the rear. Position them at the front lifting points and repeat the procedure.
  • Clamping Order: Specific tightening orders are provided for B250 and B260 clamps to ensure secure and even clamping. Bolts must be tightened loosely in initial steps and then to the maximum torque by hand in subsequent steps.
  • Adaptability: The system offers a wide range of adapters and clamping jaws to suit various vehicle frame types and anchoring requirements.
  • High Anchoring Support: The Torque Bar E175 and associated components provide robust support for high anchoring applications, enhancing stability during complex repairs.
  • Conversion Options: B731 users benefit from specific conversion examples for support spacers and clamping jaws, allowing for greater flexibility and compatibility with different vehicle models.
