This document is a user manual for the Carnival King Block Ice Shaver Machine, Item #382IBS250.
Function Description:
The Carnival King Block Ice Shaver Machine is designed for commercial foodservice operations to shave block ice. It is specifically intended for creating shaved ice for popular treats such as Hawaiian shaved ice, kakigori, Taiwanese shaved ice, or sno-balls. This unit is not suitable for household, industrial, or laboratory use. The machine efficiently shaves block ice, producing up to 360 pounds of shaved ice per hour. To achieve the desired fluffy, snow-like ice texture, it is recommended to temper the ice to room temperature for at least 20 minutes before shaving. Tempering allows the ice to reach an ideal shaving temperature of 18 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit, indicated by the ice beginning to melt or "sweat." This process helps achieve a finer and fluffier texture, and using ice blocks directly from the freezer is not recommended. The machine features an adjustable blade to control the ice texture, allowing for both finer (clockwise adjustment) and coarser (counter-clockwise adjustment) ice.

Usage Features:
The ice shaver is designed for ease of use and safety in a commercial setting.
- Placement: The unit must be placed on a flat, level, stable surface where it cannot be easily pushed off. The area in front of the shaver should be clear for unobstructed access during operation.
- Ice Block Preparation: Block ice should be a maximum of 7 inches in diameter and 7 inches in height. For optimal results, ice should be tempered to 18-20°F. To release ice from the mold, warm water can be poured over the outside.
- Loading Ice: The safety shield must be opened to place an ice block on the shaving plate. It is crucial to center the ice block using the concentric guidelines to prevent it from dislodging from the ice claw. The ice claw is then adjusted by rotating a handle clockwise to secure the ice block, ensuring the teeth penetrate the ice.
- Operation: The machine can be operated either by turning the Main Power Switch ON or by pressing down on the optional Foot Switch. The safety shield must be closed at all times during operation. To stop shaving, release the Foot Switch or turn OFF the front switch.
- Ice Texture Adjustment: A Blade Adjustment Knob allows the operator to control the fineness or coarseness of the shaved ice. Turning clockwise produces finer ice, while counter-clockwise produces coarser ice.
- Safety Precautions:
- Never operate unattended.
- Keep hands, foreign objects, long hair, and loose clothing away from the ice blades and ice claw while in use.
- Ensure the unit is plugged into a properly grounded outlet.
- Do not use an extension cord.
- Never allow the ice claw to touch the shaving plate during operation; replace the ice block when approximately 1/4" remains.
- The foot pedal should not be left accessible when unattended or not in use to prevent inadvertent operation.
- Do not bypass any safety features.
- The appliance is for indoor use only.
- In case of overheating due to continuous operation, the circuit protection may trigger, stopping the unit. Allow the motor to cool for 30 minutes before restarting.
- Sharp blades and points on the ice claw require caution during handling and cleaning.
Maintenance Features:
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to maintain the appearance, increase service life, and ensure safe operation of the unit.
- Daily Cleaning:
- Operate the motor for a few seconds to dislodge any remaining ice, then allow the machine to cool.
- Turn off the POWER switch, remove the Foot Switch Pedal, and unplug the power cord.
- Allow all remaining ice to melt and drain into the drip tray.
- Wipe down the shaving plate (with caution due to sharp blades), shaving teeth (with caution due to sharp points), and all interior and exterior surfaces with a clean, damp cloth and light soap and water.
- Do not clean the corkscrew with water; refer to specific greasing instructions.
- The drip tray grid should be removed and rinsed with light soap and water.
- For plastic frames, Sunbright (147SUNBRIGHT) is recommended for cleaning the exterior.
- Do not use steel wool or immerse the unit in water.
- Only use food-grade cleaners.
- Blade Maintenance and Replacement:
- Removal: To remove the shaving plate, unscrew the adjustment knob completely, then remove two screws underneath the plate. Fixed metal parts can then be removed, and the ice table moved upward.
- Cleaning: Wash blades with water. For stubborn stains, use a warm, damp, soft cloth. After cleaning, spray with kitchen alcohol.
- Installation: Place the shaving plate in its original position and rotate the blade adjustment button to lower it. Fasten fixed metal plates with the two screws.
- Replacement: To replace the blade, follow the shaving plate removal instructions, then remove the three screws fastening the blade. The inner blade is hidden.
- Adjustment: To adjust the blade's installation position, rotate the blade adjustment knob clockwise until tight, then unscrew the screws in the blade. When the top blade is in the middle position or on the ice table, the blade can be installed and fastened with screws.
- Rotary Tray and Nail Cleaning: Wash nails with water and spray with kitchen alcohol after cleaning.
- Greasing: Grease the corkscrew once a month with food-safe grease, applying it up and down the spiral rod. Remove the protective covering at the top of the machine (the sleeve protecting the corkscrew rod), grease the spiral rod, and then replace the covering by rotating it clockwise.
- Damaged Parts: Replace damaged cords immediately. If the unit is damaged or malfunctioning, do not operate it.
- Warranty: The equipment comes with a 6-month limited warranty covering defects in material and workmanship from the date of purchase. Claims must be made within this period. The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, maintenance, misuse, or use outside the Continental United States, among other exclusions.
