1.PreparetheportablelterCAS10162Abydoingthe
followingsteps:
(A)Removeallthehydraulicoilfromtheinletand
outlethosesfortheportablelter.
(B)Removethelterelementfromtheportablelter.
(C)Removeallhydraulicoilfromtheportablelter.
(D)Cleantheinsideofthehousingforthelterele-
ment.
2.Youmustknowwhetherthecontaminationismicro-
scopicorvisible.RefertoPRIMARYHYDRAULIC
POWERSYSTEM-Cleaning(A.10.A).
3.Ifthecontaminationismicroscopic:
(A)Checkthemaintenancescheduleforthema-
chinetolearnifthehydraulicoilmustbechanged.
Ifneeded,changethehydraulicoil.Changethehy-
drauliclter.
(B)Dosteps6through35.
4.Ifthecontaminationisvisible:
(A)Changethehydraulicoilandhydrauliclter.
(B)Dosteps5through35.
5.Checktheamountofcontaminationinthehydraulic
systembydoingthefollowingsteps:
(A)Disassembleonecylinderintwodifferentcircuits.
Checkfordamagetoseals,scoringofthecylinder
wall,etc.Repairthecylindersasnecessary.
(B)If,inyourjudgment,thedamagetothecylinders
wascausedbysevercontaminationandisnotthere-
sultofnormalwear,itisnecessarytoremove,clean
andrepairvalves,pump,lines,cylinders,hydraulic
reservoir,etc.inthehydraulicsystem.
6.Removethebreatherfromthereservoirandconnect
thevacuumpumptotheopening.Startthevacuum
pump.
7.Loosenandremovethedrainplugfromthereservoir.
8.UsingthettingkitCAS10508,installthevalveinthe
holeforthedrainplug.Makesurethatthevalveis
closed.
9.Stopthevacuumpump.
10.Connecttheinlethosefortheportableltertothe
valvethatisinstalledintheholeforthedrainplug.
11.Disconnectthevacuumpumpfromthehydraulic
reservoirairbreatherhose.Removethellercap.
12.Installtheoutlethosefortheportablelterinthehy-
draulicreservoirllerneck.
13.Openthevalvethatisinstalledintheholeforthe
drainplug.
14.MovetheswitchfortheportableltertotheONpo-
sition.Startandruntheengineat1500rpm(r/min).
15.Runtheportablelterfor10minutes.
