AVOID INJURY FROM REVERSE GEAR AND
SLEW ACCIDENTS
If someone stands near the machine when this is
carrying out slew or reverse-gear movement, the same
can hit or run over this person causing heavy injuries
or even death.
To avoid reverse gear and slew accidents:
Always look around before REVERSE GEAR OR
MACHINE SLEW. BE SURE THAT NOBODY IS
WITHIN WORKSITE.
Keep travel alarm in working condition (if equipped).
ALWAYS BE ALERT FOR BYSTANDERS MOVING IN
THE WORK AREA. USE HORN OR OTHER SIGNALS
TO WARN BYSTANDERS BEFORE STARTING MA-
CHINE..
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A PERSON THAT WATCHES
THE REVERSE GEAR IF VISIBILITY IS PREVENTED.
ALWAYS KEEP VISUAL CONTACT WITH BYSTAND-
ERS.
Use manual signals, according to local rules, if working
condition require a flagman.
No motions shall be made unless signals are clearly
understood by both signalman and operator.
Learn the meaning of all flags, signs, and markings
used on the job and confirm who has the responsibility
for signaling.
Keep windows, mirrors, and lights clean and in good
condition.
Dust, heavy rain, fog, etc., can reduce visibility. As
visibility decreases, reduce speed and use proper
lighting.
Read and understand all instruction for the operation
given in this manual.
