Overview

The CCH YPL3 is a portable air conditioner designed for domestic use, offering cooling, automatic adjusting, and fan modes. It is a self-evaporative system that recycles condensing water to cool the condenser, aiming to improve cooling efficiency and save energy.

Function Description:

The YPL3 portable air conditioner provides various operational modes to suit different needs. In Cooling mode, the unit defaults to cooling or can be manually selected. Users can set the room temperature between 62.6°F and 86°F and choose between high or low fan speeds. The Fan mode allows the unit to operate as a fan, with selectable high or low fan speeds, and the temperature remains constant. The Automatic mode adjusts its operation based on room temperature; if the room temperature is higher than 77°F, it switches to cool mode, and if cooler, it switches to fan mode. An optional Sleep mode activates a low fan speed for quieter operation, with the setting temperature increasing by 1 degree every 2 hours of running time, up to a maximum increase of 2 degrees. An optional Max cool mode runs the unit at high fan speed for maximum cooling, overriding temperature restrictions and fixing the fan speed. The Timer mode allows users to set an automatic turn-on time when the appliance is off (0-24 hours) or an automatic turn-off time when the appliance is running (0-24 hours).

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific power consumption and cooling capacity are not detailed, the manual emphasizes the unit's self-evaporative system for improved efficiency. The exhaust pipe has a maximum length of 59 inches, and it's crucial to use the shortest possible length and maintain a horizontal position for proper functioning. The unit requires a flat, dry installation surface with at least 20 inches of space around it for optimal airflow. The window slider kit is adjustable to fit various window widths.

Usage Features:

The YPL3 features a user-friendly Control Panel with buttons for Power, Mode (Cooling, Auto, Fan), Speed (High, Low fan speed), Timer, UP (temperature higher, add time, Fahrenheit to Celsius switch), and DOWN (temperature lower, adjust time, Fahrenheit to Celsius switch). The display shows the current temperature and operational status. A Remote Control is also included, offering comprehensive control over power, Celsius/Fahrenheit exchange, fan speed (high, low), mode selection (auto, cool, max cool, sleep), and timer settings. The unit is designed with castors for easy portability.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the appliance's longevity and efficiency.

  • Cleaning: Before any cleaning or maintenance, the unit must be turned off and unplugged to prevent electric shock. The housing should be cleaned with a soft, moist cloth, avoiding chemical solvents that could damage the plastic case. Water should not be sprinkled on the unit.
  • Air Filter: The air filter needs to be cleaned every 2 weeks to prevent dust blockage and maintain efficiency. To clean, open the air filter cover upwards, remove the filter, wash it gently in warm water (about 104°F) with a neutral detergent, rinse, and dry thoroughly in a shaded place before reinstalling.
  • Water Drainage: The self-evaporative system handles most condensing water. However, if the internal water tank becomes full (indicated by "FL" on the display), the compressor will stop. Users must turn off the machine, move it to a suitable drainage location, and unplug the water-draining hole to empty it.
  • Storage: For storage, the unit should be drained of water, run in Fan mode for two hours to dry the interior, turned off and unplugged, and the air filter cleaned and reinstalled after drying. The exhaust pipes should be removed and stored carefully. Finally, the unit should be wrapped in a plastic bag and kept in a dry place.

Safety Precautions:

The manual emphasizes several safety guidelines:

  • Use the appliance only for domestic purposes and as indicated in the instructions.
  • Do not use outdoors or in wet environments.
