MODEL 34OO WIRING INSTRUCTIONS.
Installation, Mounting and Wiring Instructions.
Installation and repair of this CO gas alarm should be performed by a
qualified technician. Technicians should leave these instructions in the
residence following the installation. Call CCI Controls or your dealer for
repair or replacement.
Since people are probably at most risk while asleep, it is suggested that
CO gas alarms should be installed near sleeping areas. The alarm's
sounder provides an 85 decibel alarm at 10 feet and is designed to meet
regulatory standards. If the residence has sleeping areas at opposite
ends, consider installing multiple alarms or locate the alarm between
both sleeping areas, keeping in mind the 85 decibels at 10 feet rule.
Do Not install the CO gas alarm:
Behind furniture (including drapes) or in enclosed areas (such
as a closet or cabinet) that do not have air circulation;
Within 12 inches of all windows, exterior doors, heating or return
vents, or other drafty areas;
Within 5 feet of any cooking appliance; or,
In locations where the normal ambient temperature is below
4.4°C (40°F) or exceed 37.8°C (100°F).
This CO gas alarm contains no serviceable parts. This CO gas alarm
and wiring instructions are for residential use only. All wiring methods
shall be in accordance with the applicable National Electrical Code or
Canadian Electrical Code.
Mount within three feet of the ceiling and at least 12
inches away from any corner or window. For flush
mount, cut a hole 2 5/8 inches high by 5 7/8 inches
wide. The CO gas alarm should be tested immediately
following the initial installation.
This carbon monoxide alarming device
is intended for the detection of CO gas
only from any source of combustion. It is
not intended to detect other gases, and it
has not been tested to detect other
gases. This CO gas alarm will NOT detect
smoke or fire.
This CO gas detector is a safety device, it must not
be connected in such a way as to allow it to be
switched off by use of a wall switch or similar device
or to become disconnected from its power supply due
to the use of a GFCI protected circuit.
This CO gas alarm has a time-weighted alarm so the
higher the concentration of carbon monoxide present,
the earlier the alarm will sound. This CO alarm meets
the alarm response time requirements of UL Standard
2034 that are as follows:
At 70ppm(+/- 5ppm), the unit must alarm within
60-240 minutes.
At 150ppm(+/- 5ppm), the unit must alarm within
10-50 minutes.
At 400ppm(+/- 5ppm), the unit must alarm within
4-15 minutes.
This CO gas alarm will not alarm at low CO gas levels.
Individuals with medical or health problems should con-
sider using other warning devices that provide audible and
visual signals for carbon monoxide concentrations under
30 parts per million (PPM). This CO gas alarm is not
intended to detect CO gas below 70 ppm.
