Do you have a question about the CDA vw600 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The CDA vw600 Grill Drawer is an appliance designed for warming crockery and grilling food. It is intended for built-in installation underneath a CDA compact appliance, not under a worktop. The appliance is type X installation, requiring specific ventilation to prevent overheating and potential damage to adjacent units, which could invalidate the warranty. The walls of the kitchen units where it's installed must withstand temperatures of 75°C above ambient (typically 90°C to 100°C). A minimum gap of 4mm is required between the sides of the grill drawer and adjacent furniture doors.

Technical Specifications:

  • Maximum Capacity: 15 kg
  • Installation Dimensions: Designed to fit into a 600mm wide cabinet.
    • Clearance: 5mm or more between the side and rear of the grill drawer.
    • Rear Ventilation Channel: Minimum 500mm x 25mm.
    • Air Intake: Recommended 500mm x 25mm (or 1250cm²).
  • Maximum Weight of Appliance Above: 60 kg.
  • Electrical Connection: Fixed wiring via a double pole switched fused spur outlet, protected by a 13A fuse. The appliance must be earthed. Wiring colours: Green and Yellow = Earth, Blue = Neutral, Brown = Live. The isolator should be positioned within 2m of the appliance.

Function Description:

The grill drawer features a temperature control and a timer control.

  • Temperature Control: Allows selection of various heat levels:
    • A: Plate warming
    • B: Keeping food warm
    • C: Low
    • D: Medium
    • E: Medium high
    • F: High
    • G: Full Power The temperature control should not be forced past the maximum position to prevent thermostat damage. The symbols on the control indicate recommended positions, not absolute temperature values.
  • Timer Control: Can be set for up to 30 minutes. The timer starts running when set and sounds an audible alert at the end of the countdown. The timer control should not be forced past the 30-minute position to prevent damage.
  • Power Indicator: Visible on the front of the drawer when closed, indicating the drawer is switched on.
  • Cooling Fan: Fitted to achieve maximum efficiency and maintain low surface temperatures. It switches on automatically with the drawer and may run for an hour or more after use, depending on duration and temperature.

Usage Features:

  • Preheating: Before first use, preheat the empty drawer for thirty minutes with the temperature control at the six o'clock position to burn off any residual grease from manufacturing.
  • Operation:
    1. Select the required cooking time using the timer control.
    2. Select the required temperature using the temperature control.
    3. Close the drawer gently.
    4. Ensure both controls are turned to the 'Off' position when cooking is complete.
  • Grilling: Always grill with the drawer closed. Do not grill for more than 30 minutes at a time. The grill can be preheated for two minutes prior to placing food inside.
  • Steam: Small amounts of steam may escape from the top of the drawer front during use; this is normal and not a fault.
  • Safety:
    • Grill drawers become hot during and immediately after use; avoid touching internal components.
    • The drawer itself may become hot during operation.
    • Keep children away from the appliance when in use and immediately after use.
    • Use oven gloves or adequate protection when removing items.
    • Do not rest or sit on the open drawer.
    • Do not cover the bottom of the drawer with aluminium foil or other objects; use only the supplied grill pan and trivet.
    • Never pour water directly into the drawer.
    • Do not use for heating liquids.
    • Use suitable containers or crockery.
    • Do not store plastic or flammable objects in the drawer.
    • Never insert objects (e.g., screwdrivers, sharp objects, papers) into the heating element and ventilation slots.
    • Do not allow fat or oils to build up on the grill pan or drawer base.
    • Do not place cooking utensils or plates directly on the drawer base.
    • Do not grill food containing fat without using the grill pan grid.
    • Do not cover the grill pan grid or drawer walls with aluminium foil.
