GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
 Duraon of 30 mins to 7 days
 Pain on both sides of the head (bilateral)
 Constant pain (ghtening or pressure)
 Acvity does not change the pain
 Only one of the following:
▫ Sensivity to light
▫ Sensivity to sound
 No nausea
 Touching skin of the head is painful
(pericranial tenderness)
MIGRAINE HEADACHE
Headache pain with
associated symptons

 Duraon of 4-72 hours
 Pain located on one side of the head (unilateral)
 Pulsang or throbbing pain
 Physical acvity increases pain and symptoms
 Pain is associated with:
▫ Nausea/voming
▫ Sensivity to light
▫ Sensivity to sound
WITH AURA
 Reversible aura symptons (visual, sensory, speech,
motor or renal)
 Aura spreads over >5 minutes
 Aura lasts 5-60 minutes
 Headache follows within 60 minutes of aura


