Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Century Gas Heater?
    • L
      Lindsey GutierrezAug 2, 2025
If the pilot light won't stay lit on your Century Gas Heater, it could be due to a defective pilot generator (thermocouple) or a defective automatic valve operator. * Check that the pilot flame impinges on the thermocouple or thermopile. Tighten the thermocouple. Clean and/or adjust the pilot for maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple and thermopile. * Turn the valve knob to ‘Pilot’ and maintain flow to pilot. A millivolt meter should read greater than 10mV. If the reading is okay and the pilot does not stay on, replace the gas valve.

How to fix a Century Jefferson Gas Heater when the spark ignitor won't light?
    • M
      Megan ScottAug 10, 2025
If the spark ignitor on your Century Gas Heater won't light, try the following: * Light the pilot with a match. If it lights, turn off the pilot and push the ignitor button again. If it still doesn't light, check the gap at the electrode and pilot; it should be 1/8” to have a strong spark. * Push the piezo ignitor button and check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and the electrode wire is properly connected, replace the ignitor.

      Teresa CookAug 17, 2025
If you're experiencing frequent pilot outages with your Century Gas Heater, consider these potential causes: * The pilot flame may be too low or high, causing it to drop out. Clean and/or adjust the pilot flame for maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple and thermopile. * Check the vent terminal for any blockage.

What to do if Century Gas Heater pilot lights but no gas to burner?
    • T
      theresa91Oct 25, 2025
If the pilot light is on, the valve knob is in the ON position, the remote switch is ON, but there's no gas to the burner, here's what to check: 1. Ensure the rocker switch and its wires are properly connected. You can use jumper wires across the terminals at the rocker switch. If the burner lights, replace the rocker switch. If it is still not working, use jumper wires across the rocker switch wires at the valve; if the burner lights, the wires are faulty or the connections are bad. 2. Make sure wire connections from the thermopile at gas valve terminals are tight and the thermopile is fully inserted into the pilot bracket. Also, check if one of the rocker switch wires may be grounded. Remove the rocker switch wires from the valve terminals. If the burner now stays lit, trace the rocke...
