Troubleshooting: The manual provides detailed troubleshooting guides for common issues:

Track Issues:

  • All tracks ends are filed.
  • The track space measurement matches the ordered cover system.
  • The cover smoothly moves through the track joints.
  • All track screws are tight and flush.
  • Pulleys are flush against the end of the track.
  • The feed guides are snug against the track.
  • The feed guides are bolted in and tight.
  • Alignment pins and insert splices are used when joining the tracks, even in encapsulation.
  • The roller is either centred in the pit or positioned slightly more towards the front of the pit.
  • The cover is unlikely to rub on the lid brackets.
  • The mechanism system is mounted at a right-angle to the track.
  • The ropes come back straight out of the track.
  • An excessive angle causes wear on the cover guides at the end of the track.
  • The ropes do not rub on any brackets or the lid.
  • The ropes are run correctly.
  • The cover pit has adequate drainage.

Mechanism Issues:

  • The mechanism is installed level in the cover pit.
  • The roller is level.
  • The roller is centred between the tracks.
  • The roller is at the correct height.

Cover Issues:

  • Track length for the motor and non-motor side are the same.
  • Track width at the mechanism end, centre, and shallow end of the pool is the same.
  • Distance from the end of the track to the centre of the roller for the motor and non-motor ends is the same.
  • Distance from the bottom of the track to the top pulley on both sides is correct.
  • Distance from the inside of the track to the edge of the pit is correct.
  • Does the cover start out evenly?
  • Does each rope have equal tension as the cover goes out?
  • Does the cover have enough clearance on all sides?
  • Are the sliders binding?
  • Is the track clear of sand, mud, and other obstacles?
  • Are all pulleys operating properly?
  • Is the track bent?
  • Is the cover rolling up on the take-up roller?
  • Is the cover folding under as the cover rolls up?
  • When pulling the cover by hand, is one side harder to pull than the other?
  • Is the slider tilted at an angle and causing binding?
  • Is the cover attached to the roller square?
  • Do the lead edge inserts move in and out freely the complete length of the pool?
  • Is the leading edge too long and making the inserts bind?

Cover Lid and Miscellaneous Issues:

  • All sharp edges have been removed.
  • All areas where the lid is not flat on the deck have been screwed down to eliminate any potential trip hazards.
  • There is enough clearance between the brackets and the cover to avoid rubbing.
  • The key switch operator has full view of pool when operating the cover.
  • The cover pump is tested while being submerged in water.
  • The pool area is clear of all debris.

Specific Problem/Solution Examples:

  • Cover does not move forward or reverse: Water on the cover (pump water from cover), cover adheres to the deck (lift cover and billow air under cover).
  • Water leaks onto the cover: Cover caught on a sharp object (remove sharp object and use patch kit for repairs), abrasion pinhole (use patch kit for repairs).
  • Cover retracts out of square: Rope lengths are not the same (re-pin rope on reel to make sure rope excess around reels is same on both sides), uneven drag on cover as it opens (tighten rope reel brakes slightly, without over-tightening).
  • Cover runs under stress: Excessive friction during operation (clean guides and all turning parts with a hose), cover adheres to deck (lift cover and billow air under cover), debris in cover pit (clean cover pit of debris), low water level (raise water level to mid-tile or replace cover), loose brake (loosen brake).

This comprehensive guide ensures that installers and owners can effectively manage the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Coverstar automatic safety pool cover for optimal performance and safety.
