Overview

The Chicco Tre Jogging Stroller is a versatile and robust jogging stroller designed for active parents. It offers multiple configurations and features to ensure the safety and comfort of children from newborn to 5 years old, or up to 50 lbs. The stroller is suitable for various activities, from leisurely walks to jogging and off-road use, with specific age recommendations for each.

Function Description

The primary function of the Chicco Tre Jogging Stroller is to provide a safe and comfortable means of transporting a child during walks, jogs, and off-road adventures. It is designed to accommodate infants when used as part of a travel system with a Chicco infant car seat, and older children (6 months and up) in its standard seat. For jogging or off-road use, children should be at least 12 months old. The stroller features a durable frame, three wheels (one front swivel wheel and two rear wheels), and an adjustable suspension system to adapt to different terrains.

Key functional components include:

  • Stroller Frame: The main structure that supports all other components.
  • Front Wheel: A single swivel wheel at the front, which can be locked for stability during jogging or on uneven terrain. It can be set to either a straight trailing or straight leading position.
  • Rear Wheels: Two larger wheels at the back, equipped with an adjustable suspension system and parking brakes.
  • Canopy: An extendable canopy to provide shade and protection from the elements.
  • Parent Tray: A tray located near the push handle for parents to store small items, with a weight limit of 2 lbs (0.9 kg).
  • Child Cup Holder: A cup holder for the child, with a weight limit of 1 lb (0.5 kg).
  • Wrist Strap: A safety strap to prevent separation from the stroller, especially important during jogging.
  • Bumper Bar: A front bar that provides an additional safety barrier for the child and is required when using the stroller with a Chicco infant car seat.
  • Storage Basket: A large basket located under the seat for carrying essential items, with a weight limit of 10 lbs (4.6 kg). It also includes a zippered stash basket for hidden storage.
  • Safety Harness: A 5-point safety harness system to secure the child in the seat, with adjustable shoulder strap heights and lengths.
  • Deceleration Brake: A hand-operated brake designed to slow the stroller while jogging, not for abrupt stops or parking.
  • Parking Brake: A lever-operated brake to keep the stroller stationary when not in motion.
  • Adjustable Backrest: The seat backrest can be adjusted to four different recline positions for the child's comfort.

The stroller offers three fold configurations: Standing Fold, Trunk Fold, and Compact Fold, allowing for convenient storage and transport.

Usage Features

The Chicco Tre Jogging Stroller is designed with user convenience and child safety in mind, incorporating several features for ease of use and adaptability.

Assembly and Opening:

  • Front Swivel Mount Assembly: The front swivel mount, connected to the frame by a cable, is secured by a metal pin and ring. The basket's snap buttons can be removed for easier access during this step.
  • Front Wheel Installation: The front swivel wheel is inserted into the front swivel mount until it locks, ensuring it is securely attached.
  • Rear Wheel Installation: The rear wheels are inserted into their attachment points on the stroller frame until the axle locks into position.
  • Opening the Stroller: Once wheels are in place, the push handle is rotated upwards until it clicks into the first of its four positions. The stroller is then fully opened by grasping the fold/release handle, pushing a button, twisting the handle forward, and rocking it up and back until the stroller unfolds and locks into place.

Basket Assembly:

  • The storage basket attaches to the rear of the stroller frame. A flap with three snaps wraps under the rear axle and snaps to the outside bottom of the basket.
  • The top of the basket secures around the basket support tube using snaps, with one snap at each corner of the stroller frame.
  • Five additional snaps secure the basket around the tube.

Parent Tray and Canopy Attachment:

  • The parent tray, which comes pre-assembled, flips over the crossbar towards the push handle. Its two crossbar covers fold over the crossbar, securing with hook and loop tabs to the front of the tray.
  • The canopy attaches by fastening its clips to the stroller frame, ensuring the frame button nests into the canopy clip hole on both sides.
  • The canopy can be opened by pulling its front edge forward and extended by unzipping its back section.
  • The canopy's top section threads between both crossbars, wraps around the bottom crossbar, and attaches to a corresponding zipper section on the seat back. Two side strips of hook and loop attach to the frame downtube.

Safety Features:

  • Wrist Strap: The wrist strap wraps around the push handle, threads through the handle loop, and tightens. It should be worn by the parent to prevent separation from the stroller. For storage, it wraps around the push handle and secures with hook and loop tabs.
  • Front Wheel Swivel Lock: A lever on the left side of the push handle locks the front swivel wheel into either a straight trailing or straight leading position for stability during running, jogging, or fast walking. Pressing the center button on the lever releases the lock.
  • Deceleration Brake: A hand brake is pulled to slow the stroller while jogging. It is not intended for abrupt stops or as a parking brake.
  • Parking Brake: A lever on the right side of the push handle is rotated forward to lock the parking brakes, keeping the stroller stationary. Pressing the center button releases the brakes.
  • Safety Harness: The 5-point safety harness has three height positions for the shoulder straps, ensuring they are always above the child's shoulder line. The shoulder strap connector is designed to break away from the waist clip if not secured in the crotch strap buckle. To secure, the shoulder strap connector slides onto the waist strap clip, and both waist clips slide into the crotch strap buckle. The length of both shoulder and waist straps can be adjusted using buckles and tabs. The harness is released by pressing a button on the center of the buckle.

Comfort and Storage:

  • Adjustable Backrest: The backrest can be adjusted to four positions by squeezing two levers behind it, allowing for recline or upright seating.
  • Stash Basket: A zippered compartment within the storage basket provides hidden storage for personal items.
  • Adjustable Rear Suspension: The stroller features two suspension modes: a stiff suspension (straight line) for smooth surfaces and higher speeds, and a soft suspension (wavy line) for rough terrain. The lever for this adjustment is located on the rear wheels. Both suspension levers must be in the same position.

Infant Car Seat Integration:

  • For newborns (0-6 months), a Chicco infant car seat must be used, properly attached to the stroller. The stroller seat must be fully reclined, and the bumper bar must be attached correctly. The car seat fits rear-facing into the stroller frame, clicking into place on both sides. The Chicco carrier attachment needs to be outside the seat fabric for the car seat to lock to the frame.
  • To remove the infant car seat, squeeze the release handle on the back of the car seat and lift it by the carrying handle.

Folding the Stroller:

  • Standing Fold: The canopy is moved back, and the release handle is grasped. The button is pushed with the thumb, and the handle is twisted forward. The push handle is then rocked forward and down until the stroller folds and closes. The push handle side buttons are pushed in, and the handle is rotated down into a folded position.
  • Trunk Fold: The footrest is flipped open, and the plastic release button is slid forward to flip the swivel mount down into a folded position.
  • Compact Fold: The stroller is laid down. The spring release button on the inside hub of the wheel mount is pulled to remove the rear wheels. The front swivel wheel is removed by pulling the metal release handle. Both the front and rear wheels can be stored in the stroller seat for a more compact fold.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the Chicco Tre Jogging Stroller. All cleaning and maintenance should be performed by an adult.

Cleaning:

  • Seat Cover: To remove the seat cover for cleaning, refer to the "How to Remove the Seat" section of the manual. Specific cleaning instructions for the fabric parts are provided on the care label.
  • Plastic Parts: Periodically wipe plastic parts clean with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Metal Parts: Always dry metal parts if they come into contact with water to prevent rust formation.

General Maintenance:

  • Lubrication: Lubricate moving parts as necessary with a light application of a silicone-based lubricant.
  • Wheels: Periodically check the condition of the wheels and keep them clean of dust and sand to ensure smooth operation.
  • Movable Plastic Parts: Ensure all movable plastic parts along the metal frame are clean of dust, dirt, or sand to avoid friction.
  • Storage: Store the stroller in a dry place.
  • Sunlight Exposure: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause the fabric to fade.
  • Tire Pressure: Only use a foot or hand pump to inflate the tires. Before each use, check the tire pressure, ensuring it does not exceed 36 psi (as shown on the tire sidewall). Overinflating can damage the tire and/or wheel, leading to loss of control and injury.
  • Damage Check: Before assembly, check that the product and all its components have not been damaged during transportation.
  • Component Integrity: Discontinue using the stroller if it becomes damaged or broken.
  • Approved Parts: Only use accessories, spare parts, or components supplied or approved by Chicco, as unauthorized parts may compromise the stroller's safety.
