Overview

The Christopher Ward C1 Bel Canto is a Swiss-made, limited edition mechanical watch designed in Britain and engineered in Switzerland. It is a haute horlogerie timepiece that offers both visual appeal and a unique auditory experience.

Function Description:

The primary function of the C1 Bel Canto is accurate timekeeping, powered by a self-winding mechanical movement. A distinctive feature is its hourly chiming mechanism, which produces a 'D' note sound. This chime can be turned on or off via a pusher on the case. The watch also features a floating time display, adding to its unique aesthetic.

  • Setting the Time: The crown has two positions. Position 1 is for manual winding, where the crown should sit flush to the case to maintain water resistance. To re-power the watch after non-use, wind the crown clockwise. Position 2 is for handsetting; pull the crown gently into this position. For precise time setting, it is recommended to pass beyond the desired minute and then set the hand backward.
  • Chime On/Off: The watch chimes on the hour, every hour. To turn the chime off, press the pusher at the 4 o'clock position on the case. A red indicator on the dial will move from the chime position to the silent position. To re-enable the chime, press the pusher again, and the indicator will return to its original position.
  • Straps and Bracelets: Christopher Ward straps and bracelets are made with high-quality materials and feature quick-release pins for easy attachment and detachment.
    • Detaching: Locate the quick-release pin(s) on the strap or bracelet and pull them inwards.
    • Reattaching: Pull the pin(s) inwards, align the spring bars, and ensure they click securely into the lug holes on each side of the watch case.
  • Bracelet Micro Adjustment: Bracelets feature a micro-adjustment system with five positions, allowing for a maximum extension of 10mm.
    • To Extend: Press the buttons to release the clasp, pull the lever to unlock, and simultaneously pull the bracelet into the desired position.
    • To Shorten: Pull the lever to unlock and push the bracelet back into the clasp.

Maintenance Features:

  • Water Resistance Guidelines: While the watch undergoes rigorous static pressure testing, various factors can affect its water resistance. Arm movements during swimming, sudden impacts from diving or water sports, and rapid temperature changes (e.g., in a bath, shower, or sauna) can increase pressure or cause seals to expand, potentially leading to malfunction or condensation. The 3 ATM (30 metres) rating is a guideline and should be strictly adhered to.
    • 1 ATM (10 metres): Safe for washing hands with tap water.
    • 3 ATM (30 metres): Safe for washing a car and/or general hose pipe usage.
    • 5 ATM (50 metres): Water resistant to most household shower units.
    • 15 ATM (150 metres): Safe for snorkelling in open water.
    • 30 ATM (300 metres): Ideal for experienced divers and those practicing scuba-diving.
    • 60 ATM (600 metres): For professional divers experiencing prolonged exposure underwater.
  • 60|60 Guarantee:
    • 60-day free returns: Customers have 60 days to return the watch in perfect, unused condition with all accompanying paperwork for a replacement or full refund if they are not satisfied.
    • 60-month movement guarantee: The watch movement is covered by a five-year warranty. Christopher Ward will repair any fault in the movement free of charge within this period. The watch must be sent for a full diagnosis before warranty repair.
  • Service and Repairs: Christopher Ward emphasizes uncompromised quality and value for money in its service and repair approach. They recommend servicing the watch every three to four years to keep it in peak condition.
  • Important Note on Warranty: The 60|60 Guarantee does not cover accidental damage. Any service or repair performed by a third-party retailer will void the 60|60 Guarantee. More details are available on their website.
