Overview

The Cinelli Zydeco Electric Mud is a versatile gravel bike designed for both muscular and assisted riding, equipped with an integrated Ebikemotion® assistance system. This guide provides essential information for its first use, ensuring a smooth and interactive experience for the rider.

Function Description

The Zydeco Electric Mud functions as a dual-purpose bicycle, allowing riders to switch between a traditional muscular gravel bike and an electric-assisted mode. The core of its electric functionality lies in the Ebikemotion® assistance system, which provides pedal assistance through a motorized X35 hub. This system is controlled via an iWoc button, enabling riders to activate assistance and select from various levels of power output. For an enhanced and more interactive experience, the bike integrates with the Ebikemotion® APP, offering comprehensive monitoring and control features.

Usage Features

First Steps for Use:

Before embarking on your ride, it's crucial to ensure the battery is adequately charged. The charging process is straightforward:

  1. Connect the provided charger to a standard household electrical outlet (220 V).
  2. Attach the charger to the bike's charging socket (ref. B). It's important to align the arrows on both the socket and the plug correctly. Once connected, secure the cable by screwing the safety ring to prevent accidental disconnection.
  3. The bike is fully charged when the iWoc button (ref. A) flashes white, indicating a battery level above 75%. The Ebikemotion® APP can also be used to monitor the battery charge level at any time.
  4. Once charged, the Zydeco Electric Mud is ready for use. To power on the system, press the iWoc button. The LED will illuminate with a steady light, indicating the current battery charge level.

Selecting the Assistance Level:

The Zydeco Electric Mud offers three distinct levels of pedal assistance, easily controlled through the iWoc button. When the system is active, a short press of the iWoc button will cause the LED to flash, displaying the color corresponding to the current assistance level:

  • GREEN = ECO LEVEL 1: Provides the lowest level of assistance, ideal for extending battery life and light support.
  • YELLOW = INTERMEDIATE LEVEL 2: Offers a moderate level of assistance, suitable for varied terrain and balanced performance.
  • RED = MAX LEVEL 3: Delivers the highest level of assistance for challenging climbs or when maximum power is desired.
  • WHITE = NO ASSISTANCE: Indicates that the pedal assistance system is off, allowing the bike to be ridden purely on muscular power.

The assistance level can be adjusted even while pedaling. To change the level:

  1. Press the iWoc button with a short touch to activate the dial system (the button will flash).
  2. While the button is flashing, continue to press it with short touches to cycle through and select the desired assistance level.

To deactivate the assistance service, press and hold the iWoc button for 3 seconds. The LED light will blink twice and then turn off. For safety and battery conservation, the system will automatically turn off after one hour of inactivity.

Use with the Ebikemotion® APP:

The Ebikemotion® APP significantly enhances the riding experience by providing "smart" functionalities. It allows riders to monitor their activities, track performance, and gain a comprehensive overview of their rides.

APP Installation:

The Ebikemotion® APP is available for download on smartphones and tablets. Users can find it in the Google PlayStore for Android systems and the APP Store for iOS systems. It's important to note that some older Android versions may not be compatible with the Ebikemotion® APP.

Account Registration:

To fully utilize the Ebikemotion® APP, account registration is required. Users can register using their email and a chosen password, or through Facebook. Upon the first login, new users will be prompted to enter their account details. If registering with an email address, a confirmation email will be sent, requiring verification from the user's inbox.

The Ebikemotion® APP is available in two versions:

  • Smartphone version: Designed for outdoor activities, allowing real-time monitoring and control during rides.
  • Desktop version: Accessible from any internet-connected device, providing a post-workout overview of data and routes.

Users can access the "Manuals" section on the Cinelli.it website, specifically on the Zydeco Electric Mud page, to log into the web version of the APP. From here, automatic connection with Strava can be activated to synchronize activities with Ebikemotion.

The smartphone version allows users to record activities and obtain a general overview of their Cinelli Zydeco Electric Mud bike's status.

Connecting the APP via Bluetooth:

The connection between the smartphone and the Zydeco Electric Mud is established via Bluetooth:

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  2. Activate the Zydeco E-mud system and open the Ebikemotion® APP.
  3. Navigate to the "settings" section within the APP and verify that "EBM compatible" is checked.

For iOS app users, the bicycle connects automatically. It's important to ensure the connection is made to the intended bike, as the system connects to the first available Ebikemotion-enabled bike, even if it's not your specific Cinelli Zydeco Electric Mud. For Android users, manual pairing is necessary by selecting the "Connect to EBM" option.

Once paired, users can begin recording their activities. To register an activity, select "start activity" within the APP. This feature allows for recording GPS data, checking assistance levels, speed, route characteristics, and much more.

At the conclusion of an activity, select "interrupt activity" and then proceed to save and complete the activity data, including naming the activity and noting path characteristics. For a comprehensive understanding of all features available through the Ebikemotion app, it is recommended to consult the APP user manual, which can be downloaded from the Zydeco Electric Mud page on the official Cinelli.it website.

Maintenance Features

General Warnings and Care:

  • Battery Maintenance: For any maintenance or replacement of the battery, always consult your authorized Cinelli dealer.
  • Bottle Cage Attachment: When attaching a bottle cage to the down tube, use screws that do not compromise the battery's integrity. The screws securing the battery to the down tube must not exceed a maximum length of 8 mm. Use spacer washers to adjust the length if necessary.
  • Cleaning: Avoid washing the bicycle with high-pressure water systems, as this can damage the electrical components. Always ensure the charging point cap is tightly closed during washing to prevent water ingress.
  • Transportation: When transporting the bicycle outside a car or camper, cover the bike and its electrical components with a protective sheet to shield them from the elements.
  • iWoc Button Care: Prevent contact of the iWoc button with dust and water to ensure its proper functioning.
  • Battery Autonomy: The battery's autonomy varies depending on usage characteristics. Under normal use, the battery can provide assistance for approximately 100 km or a maximum height difference of 1500 m. A complete charge typically takes about 3.5 hours.
  • Puncture Repair: In the event of a puncture, refer to the graphic instructions provided in the Quick guide Connection & Mount, X35 system.
  • Component Replacement: Always contact authorized Cinelli dealers for component replacements. Do not alter the product yourself and only use original parts.
  • Legal Compliance: Do not alter the product and use your Zydeco Electric Mud in compliance with all applicable laws and local regulations.

Important Notes on Battery Safety:

  • Avoid Deformation/Disassembly: Do not deform, modify, or disassemble the battery. Such actions can lead to liquid leakage, overheating, or explosions. If battery liquid accidentally comes into contact with the eyes, immediately flush the affected area with fresh water and seek medical attention.
  • Heat Sources: Keep the battery away from heat sources.
  • Physical Damage/Water Exposure: Do not subject the battery to strong shocks, immerse it in water, or allow its terminals to get wet.
  • Charging: Use only the Ebikemotion charger supplied with the Zydeco Electric Mud to charge the internal battery. Never plug in the charger in wet conditions. If the connectors are wet, dry them thoroughly before making the connection.
  • Charging Issues: If the battery does not fully charge after 6 hours, immediately stop the charging process and contact your Cinelli dealer.
  • Charging Environment: Always charge the battery in locations protected from atmospheric agents to ensure safety and optimal performance.
