Preparation
Before setting up the Cisco 881W meetinghouse
firewall, you should have the following:
1. A working Internet connection in the
meetinghouse that you can connect to using
an Ethernet cable
2. A computer (preferably a laptop) with
a network port, a contemporary web
browser, and a minimum screen resolution
of 1024 x 768
3. The Internet Service Provider (ISP) support
phone number and account information.
Plan to activate the firewall during a time
when support may be contacted.
4. Your LDS Account (to set up an LDS account,
go to ldsaccount.lds.org)
5. A unit number or property number
associated with the building where you’re
installing the firewall
6. Confirmation that you will be able to find
and select the correct building using the
Building Validation Tool:
mtm.lds.org/firewall/buildings/validation
7. The box containing the meetinghouse
firewall
8. An extra network cable
Overview
The meetinghouse firewall is like a bridge that will
connect all of the computers in the meetinghouse
to an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
You should install the firewall in the same general
location as the ISP modem. The location should be
secure, private, and convenient to an electrical
outlet.
As shown in the diagram on the following page,
the firewall must be positioned between the ISP
and all devices on the meetinghouse network.
