Overview

This document provides an abbreviated instruction manual for the Citizen E820 watch, a solar-powered timepiece designed for precision and ease of use. The manual covers essential functions such as setting the time and calendar, adjusting local time, checking and correcting reference positions, and performing a full reset.

Function Description

The E820 watch is equipped with multiple hands and indicators to display various information. The core timekeeping functions include an hour hand, minute hand, second hand, and a 24-hour hand, allowing for clear time display. A dedicated date indication provides the current date. For advanced functionalities, the watch features a function hand that serves multiple purposes, including chronograph minute and 1/20 second measurements. An alarm indication clearly shows whether the alarm is set to ON or OFF.

The watch operates through a crown and two buttons (A and B). The crown has three positions: a pushed-in position (0) for normal operation and two pulled-out positions (1 and 2) for various setting modes. Button B is primarily used for selecting target hands/indications during setting procedures, while Button A, in conjunction with Button B, is used for the All Reset function. The mode hand indicates the current operational mode of the watch, such as Time (TME), Local Time (L-TM), or Chronograph (CHR).

Usage Features

Setting the Time and Calendar:

The E820 watch boasts a perpetual calendar that requires no manual adjustment until February 28, 2100, even accounting for leap years. To set the time and calendar:

  1. Pull the crown out to position 1.
  2. Rotate the crown to change the mode to [TME].
  3. Pull the crown out to position 2.
  4. Press and release button B to set the second hand to 0.
  5. Repeatedly press and release button B to cycle through the target hands/indications for correction: Hour/minute → year → month → date.
  6. Rotate the crown to adjust the selected hand or indication. The hour, minute, and 24-hour hands move synchronously. The 24-hour hand helps determine AM/PM. Rotating the crown quickly allows for continuous movement of hands/indications, which can be stopped by rotating the crown in the opposite direction.
  7. The year is indicated by the function hand, and the month by the second hand, corresponding to specific markers and hour positions, respectively.
  8. Once adjustments are complete, push the crown back to position 0 in accordance with a reliable time source.

Setting the Local Time:

The watch allows for setting a local time difference from the main time (TME) in 1-hour increments, within a range of ±27 hours.

  1. Pull the crown out to position 1.
  2. Rotate the crown to change the mode to [L-TM].
  3. Pull the crown out to position 2.
  4. Rotate the crown to adjust the hour hand. The hour hand moves in 1-hour increments, and the 24-hour hand moves synchronously. Quick rotation enables continuous movement.
  5. Push the crown in to position 0 to finish.

Checking the Reference Position:

To ensure accurate operation, it's important to check the reference positions of the hands and indications.

  1. Pull the crown out to position 1.
  2. Rotate the crown to change the mode to [CHR].
  3. Pull the crown out to position 2. The hands and indications will move to their stored reference positions.
  4. Verify that the hour, minute, and second hands point to 0 hour, 00 minute, 00 second; the 24-hour hand points to "24"; the date indication shows "1"; and the function hand shows ".0".
  5. Push the crown in to position 0 to finish.

Maintenance Features

Correcting the Reference Position:

If the reference positions are incorrect, they can be manually adjusted.

  1. Pull the crown out to position 1.
  2. Rotate the crown to change the mode to [CHR].
  3. Pull the crown out to position 2. The hands and indications will move to their stored reference positions.

  5. Repeatedly press and release button B to cycle through the target hand/indication for correction: Function hand/date indication → hour/minute/24-hour hands → second hand.
  6. Rotate the crown to adjust the selected hand/indication. The hour, minute, and 24-hour hands move synchronously. The date indication changes with every 4 rotations of the function hand. Quick rotation enables continuous movement.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all necessary corrections are made.
  8. Push the crown in to position 0 to finish.

Resetting the Watch (All Reset):

An "All Reset" can be performed to reset all settings.
