Product description
• Detachable “Remote” unit for measuring at both ends of thecable.
• Indicates whether thecable is complete, broken or short-circuited.
• Indicates whether thecable is straight or crossed.
• Requires no special battery, operates on a9 V alkaline battery.
• Connections for both TP cable (RJ45) and ISDN cable (RJ11).
Operation
Inspecting TP cable (RJ45) and ISDN cable (RJ11)
Note: Never connect thenetwork tester to anetwork which is in use and is active, disconnect thecables
before testing them.
1. Connect one end of thecable to theMaster unit and theother end to theRemote unit.
DetachtheRemote unit and connect it to theother end of thecable if thecable is already installed.
2. Turn theon/off switch to ON (or S for slow testing)
3. Read theLEDs on theMaster Unit.
4. The LEDs (1–8 and G) will flash in pairs on both units simultaneously.
• If thecable is OK theMaster and Remote will flash in unison: 1 - 1, 2 - 2, 3 - 3, etc.
• If thecable is defective no LEDs will be lit.
• If “G” flashes during testing, thecable is shielded.
• If theconnected cable is crossed, Master and Remote will start flashing out of sync:
1 - 3, 2 - 4, 3 - 1, etc.
Note:
• ISDN cable (RJ11) has 6 wire cores (1–6).
• TP cable (RJ45) has 8 cores (unshielded cable) or 8 cores + shield (G).
• The on/off switch has 3 positions: “OFF”, “ON” and “S” (slow testing).
