This Quick Start Guide provides instruction related to:
1) Software Installation
2) Hardware Set-up
3) Lens Adjustment
4) Pedal Configuration
Software Installation
1. Install the Pylon Software Suite.
a. https://www.baslerweb.com/en/products/software/basler-pylon-camera-software-suit
e/
b. Fill out the information about who is downloading the application.
c. Agree to the Basler Pylon Terms and Conditions.
d. Download the appropriate application for your system.
2. Connect the camera to the computer via a USB 3.0 port.
3. Launch Pylon Viewer on the computer and confirm that the camera is recognized.
a. See the “Lens adjustment” section for focusing instructions.
4. Work with your Client Engineering team to ensure that redirection of devices is enabled.
a. Note: depending on your Hyperspace virtualization strategy, your Client Engineering
team may require details about the camera (such as VID and/or PID) in order to enable
redirection specifically for this model of camera.
i. If you use Citrix, the camera VID and PID can be found via the Citrix session
details: Citrix Session > Right Click > Connection Center > Devices.
1. Depending on your access in Citrix, you may not be able to see the
camera details. Consult with your Client Engineering team for more
details.
5. Launch Hyperspace and log into the Dispense Preparation activity and open an order with an
existing dispense. Confirm that the "Take Picture" button is available.
a. Select "Take Picture".
i. Selecting the “preview” option in Epic-Dispense Prep will launch a window in
which you can preview the camera image and capture it via manual selection of
the TWAIN driver capture icon.
ii. Once the camera is focused on the workspace, we recommend de-selecting
“preview” by default in order to streamline the workflow. The “preview”
window functions do not correspond to hot-keys programmed into the pedal.

Do you have a question about the ClearView CleanCam 1006 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The CleanCam is a camera system designed to assist in the Dispense Preparation activity, particularly for capturing images of products during the workflow. It comes in two main models: the CleanCam-1016 (Hood Mount) and the CleanCam-1006 (TableTop Mount), each optimized for different mounting scenarios and distances from the work surface. The system integrates with Epic-Dispense Prep and utilizes Pylon software for camera control and image capture.

Function Description:

The primary function of the CleanCam is to capture images of vials, syringes, or ampules during the dispense preparation process. These images can be used for documentation, mid-prep review, and final review, contributing to quality control and accountability. The system is designed to streamline the workflow by allowing users to capture images and perform related actions (like keeping or discarding pictures, or submitting for review) using a foot pedal, minimizing the need for manual interaction with the computer.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Connectivity: The CleanCam connects to a computer via a USB 3.0 port.
  • Software Integration: It requires the Basler Pylon Software Suite for installation and operation. It integrates with Epic-Dispense Prep for image capture and workflow management.
  • Mounting Options:
    • CleanCam-1016 (Hood Mount): Designed for attachment to a magnetic surface on a hood body. It uses a mounting arm with a magnet base. Optimal image quality is achieved when mounted between 28-33 inches from the work surface.
    • CleanCam-1006 (TableTop Mount): Designed to be placed on a work surface. Optimal image quality is achieved when the lens end is approximately 11-12 inches from the work surface.
  • Lens: Features a fixed-focus lens, designed to focus at a single distance. Focus adjustment is manual, by rotating the very end of the lens.
  • Foot Pedal (Optional): A USB-connected foot pedal can be used to trigger multiple actions, pre-programmed or customizable, depending on the workflow step. The pedal's light blinks during configuration.
  • Image Orientation: The camera should be oriented such that the ¼"-20 attachment point is considered the "top" for correct image orientation.
  • Virtualization Compatibility: The system is designed to work within virtualized environments like Citrix, requiring proper redirection of devices, potentially needing specific camera VID and PID details from the Client Engineering team.

Usage Features:

  • Software Installation:
    • Download and install the Basler Pylon Software Suite from the provided URL.
    • Connect the camera to a USB 3.0 port.
    • Launch Pylon Viewer to confirm camera recognition.
  • Client Engineering Team Collaboration: Work with the Client Engineering team to ensure device redirection is enabled, providing camera VID and PID if necessary for virtualization.
  • Hyperspace Integration: Launch Hyperspace, navigate to the Dispense Preparation activity, and open an order. Confirm the "Take Picture" button is available.
  • Image Capture Workflow:
    • Select "Take Picture" in Epic-Dispense Prep.
    • The "preview" option launches a window to preview the camera image and capture it via the TWAIN driver capture icon.
    • It is recommended to de-select "preview" by default once the camera is focused to streamline the workflow, as preview window functions do not correspond to hot-keys programmed into the pedal.
  • Mounting Instructions:
    • Hood Mount (CleanCam-1016):
      • Attach the mounting arm to the magnet base.
      • Attach the magnet base to a magnetic surface on the hood, ideally with a ClearView-branded vinyl sticker underneath to prevent metal-metal contact.
      • Exercise caution during installation/repositioning to avoid damaging the hood.
      • To remove, apply force parallel to the hood surface until the magnet reaches an edge and slides off.
      • Loosen the universal ball joint adapter and screw point c. into the ¼"-20 attachment point on the CleanCam. Point b. should remain in the assembly.
      • Position the arm for a vertical vantage point.
      • Tighten the universal ball joint once the desired position is achieved.
    • TableTop Mount (CleanCam-1006):
      • Attach the CleanCam to the TableTop mount and place it on the work surface.
      • Position the assembly so the lens end is 11-12 inches from the work surface.
  • Focus and Color Adjustment:
    • Launch Pylon Viewer and double-click the camera to select "continuous" shot function for a real-time image feed.
    • Place a product in the field of view.
    • Remove the protective lens tube.
    • Rotate the very end of the lens (not the entire lens) to adjust focus.
    • Adjust aperture by loosening the set-screw closest to the camera body (though Pylon application adjustment is generally preferred).
    • Click the automatic image adjustment button in continuous shot mode to update brightness and color settings based on room lighting.
    • Save settings: Exit continuous shot mode, navigate to "User Set" settings, select "User Set 1", and click "Execute" next to "User Set Save".
  • Foot Pedal Configuration (if applicable):
    • The pedal is pre-programmed for actions like "Take Picture," "Keep Picture," "Discard Picture," "Submit for Mid-Prep Review," "Submit for Final Review," and "Yes/No" for dose attribution.
    • To customize: Press and hold the left pedal, plug the USB cord into the computer, release the pedal when the light blinks, run the Windows programming application, set desired actions, save, then unplug and replug the USB connection without pressing pedals.

Maintenance Features:

  • Lens Protection: The protective lens tube should be removed for focus adjustment and presumably reattached for protection during normal operation.
  • Mounting Care: Caution is advised when installing or repositioning the magnet base of the Hood Mount to prevent damage to the hood or the mount itself. The use of a vinyl sticker is recommended to prevent metal-on-metal contact.
  • Focus Stability: Ensuring the entire lens does not rotate during focus adjustment is crucial for maintaining reliable focus and preventing damage to the device.
  • Software Updates: While not explicitly stated as a maintenance feature, regular updates to the Basler Pylon Software Suite would likely be important for optimal performance and compatibility.
  • Troubleshooting: If the CleanCam is not selected by Hyperspace by default, users are advised to uninstall other TWAIN drivers or consult with their Epic representative.
