Overview

The CLEYVER TALK 54 is a PMR-446 handportable transceiver designed for licence-free, instant communication. It offers a range of features for both personal and professional use, emphasizing ease of use and robust performance.

Function Description:

The CLEYVER TALK 54 operates on the PMR-446 frequency band, allowing for free use without the need for a license. It boasts an IP54 protection rating, making it resistant to dust ingress and water splashes, suitable for various environments. For private communications, the transceiver supports 155 privacy codes (50 CTCSS and 105 DCS), ensuring that users can only receive transmissions with matching codes.

Key operational features include a VOX (Voice Operated eXchange) function for hands-free transmission, which can be adjusted across 9 sensitivity levels (OFF, 1-9) to minimize unwanted activations from background noise. A dual watch (2 CH) function allows for alternate scanning of the current channel and another selected channel, pausing on an active channel for 10 seconds after transmission before resuming scan.

The device also incorporates a Time-out Timer (TOT) to prevent prolonged transmissions, automatically stopping after 60 seconds to conserve battery life. An auto-power save function is activated after 3 seconds of inactivity, further extending battery duration. For convenience, a keypad lock function prevents accidental button presses.

Monitoring weak signals and adjusting volume in noisy environments is facilitated by the monitor (squelch) function, which can be activated by pressing and holding the [MON] key for 3 seconds. The scan function allows the radio to search for active channels, stopping on a matched channel and resuming after the signal disappears.

Communication enhancements include 10 selectable call tones, which can be transmitted to alert other group members. The "Roger beep" function provides an audible tone at the end of a transmission, signaling to other users that the conversation has concluded. A "Room monitor" function enables the radio to detect voices/noises and transmit them without requiring the [PTT] button to be pressed, though the monitoring radio cannot receive other communications in this mode.

For emergency situations, an SOS emergency call mode is available, transmitting a siren sound to other radios. The device also features an LED flashlight, which can be turned on or off with a dedicated key. Easy cloning functionality allows for quick and simultaneous programming of multiple radios with the same channel parameters and CTCSS/DCS codes, designating one radio as the "master" to transmit settings to "slave" radios.

Usage Features:

The CLEYVER TALK 54 is designed for straightforward operation. To power on/off, the [PWR/VOL] knob is rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise, respectively. Volume is adjusted using the same knob. The LCD display provides clear indications of the current channel, CTCSS/DCS code, battery level (3 levels), and active functions such as VOX, dual watch, keypad lock, high power, Roger beep, keypad beep, vibration, call tone number, and room monitor. A battery level indicator shows full charge, and a blinking icon alerts to low battery.

The radio can be powered by the supplied Li-Ion/NiMH battery pack or 3 AA alkaline batteries. Battery installation involves removing the belt clip, unlocking the battery cover, inserting the batteries according to instructions, and securely closing the cover. The Micro-USB cable can be used for charging, connecting to a desktop charger or directly to the transceiver, with an LED indicator showing charging status.

The device includes a vibration alert function, useful in noisy environments to signal an incoming call. The keypad beep function provides auditory feedback for key presses, which can be toggled on or off.

Maintenance Features:

The CLEYVER TALK 54 is manufactured to high-quality standards with advanced technology. Users are advised not to modify or attempt to adjust the transceiver. Proper placement is crucial; avoid heat-emitting devices, prolonged direct sunlight, or extremely dusty, humid, wet, or unstable surfaces. In case of abnormal odor or smoke, the device should be immediately turned off, the battery removed, and authorized technical service contacted. Using non-original accessories is not recommended as it may compromise proper functionality.

The manual emphasizes the importance of reading it completely to understand all functions and their interdependencies. It should be kept for future reference. The product is compliant with Directive 2012/19/EU for WEEE and Directive 2017/2102/EU (RoHS), indicating that it should be recycled or dismantled at the end of its life to prevent environmental hazards. The warranty covers manufacturing defects for three years, with specific conditions regarding battery replacement and serial number integrity.
