This document provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and efficient use, installation, and maintenance of your Climadiff free-standing and under-mount service cellar, model CV52IXDZ. It is designed to help you understand the appliance's features and ensure its optimal performance for storing wine.
Function Description
The Climadiff service cellar is specifically designed for the storage of wine, allowing you to bring bottles to either room temperature or service temperature, depending on the specific wine type, thanks to its wide adjustment range. Unlike a standard refrigerator, this appliance is engineered to protect sensitive grand cru wines from sudden temperature variations by maintaining a constant average temperature. It is intended exclusively for domestic use and for storing special drink products at temperatures higher than those of fresh food compartments; it is not meant for keeping food products fresh.
The appliance features a dual-zone temperature control system, allowing for independent temperature settings in the upper and lower chambers. This enables you to store different types of wine at their ideal serving temperatures simultaneously. The refrigeration compressor is equipped with special dampers and insulated with polyurethane foam to prevent vibration transmission, which can be harmful to wine. An automatic defrost cycle ensures that refrigerated surfaces are defrosted automatically, with condensate water channeled to an evaporation tray near the compressor.
For environments where ambient temperatures might drop low, a winter kit is integrated. This frost protection system activates a low-power electrical element when the room temperature falls to around 8°C, preventing sudden temperature rises that could damage the wine. The cellar also includes a humidification system with a tray to maintain the correct humidity level, crucial for cork preservation, especially during long-term storage. An anti-UV system, either through a solid door or specially treated glass, protects wines from harmful ultraviolet rays, which can accelerate aging.
Usage Features
Before first use, it is crucial to read the entire user manual, paying close attention to safety rules and operating instructions. The appliance should be allowed to stand upright for at least 24 hours before connecting to power to ensure proper compressor fluid feed. The interior should be cleaned with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.
The cellar is designed for both free-standing and built-under installation. It requires a single, properly installed-grounded wall outlet. Adequate ventilation is essential, and the front air outlet must not be blocked. When positioning, ensure a 30-mm gap between the back of the cellar and the wall, and use a spirit level to ensure it is perfectly level to prevent instability, noise, vibration, and ensure proper door sealing. The appliance should be kept away from direct sunlight, heat sources (stoves, heaters, radiators), and moist areas to ensure proper performance and energy efficiency.
The control panel features "Power" (On/Off switch), "Light" (lighting control), "Upper Chamber" and "Lower Chamber" electronic displays, and "Set Upper" and "Set Lower" buttons for temperature adjustment. To set the temperature, press the respective "Set" button; the display will flash, and each press will alter the temperature by 1°C. The set temperature can be viewed by pressing and holding the temperature select buttons. In case of a power cut, the appliance will re-initialize to factory-preset temperatures (6°C for the upper chamber and 12°C for the lower chamber).
The internal LED lights automatically switch off after 10 minutes to conserve energy. You can choose to keep the light on continuously by pressing and holding the "Light" button for 5 seconds until "LP" is displayed. To revert to energy-saving mode, press and hold the "Light" button again until "LF" is displayed.
Shelves are designed for easy access; they can be slid out approximately one-third of the way and are fitted with a stop to prevent bottles from falling. To remove or reposition shelves, incline them as shown in the diagram. The maximum loading quantities are guidelines based on a standard 75 cl Bordeaux bottle; actual capacity may vary depending on bottle shapes and sizes. For optimal loading and to prevent damage, criss-crossing bottle types (top-to-bottom, neck-to-neck or between bottle bodies) is recommended.
The door can be reversed from left to right. This involves removing the aeration grille, unscrewing the top and bottom hinges, removing plastic caps, and re-screwing the hinges and caps on the opposite side. A stainless-steel handle is supplied and can be easily screwed onto the door after removing the seal.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of your wine cooler. Before any cleaning or servicing, always disconnect the appliance from the power supply by removing the plug or pulling the fuse.
For cleaning, use warm water mixed with a gentle cleaning product to wipe the inside and outside surfaces (front, side, and top). Rinse with clean water and allow to dry thoroughly before reconnecting. Avoid using solvents, abrasives, metal objects, steam systems, volatile fluids, organic solvents, or flammable fluids, as these can damage the appliance, create a fire hazard, or cause an explosion. If a residual odor is present upon first use, run the appliance empty at the coldest possible temperature for a few hours.
To prevent damage to the door gasket, ensure the door is fully open when pulling out shelves. Do not cover shelves with aluminum foil or any other material that might obstruct air circulation. If the wine cooler is to be left empty for long periods, unplug it, clean it thoroughly, and leave the door ajar to prevent condensation, mold, or odors.
The condenser should be cleaned regularly to ensure proper operation and energy efficiency. Regularly inspect the door seals to ensure they are closing properly; if not, contact after-sales service.
In case of a power cut, most short outages (1-2 hours) will not affect the cabinet temperature significantly. To protect your wines during longer outages, avoid opening the door as much as possible. If the appliance is disconnected or experiences a power cut, wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting to allow the compressor to re-engage properly. When restarting after a prolonged shutdown, it is normal for displayed temperatures to differ from selected ones for a few hours until they stabilize.
For long vacations (several months), remove all items, turn off the appliance, clean and dry the interior thoroughly, and leave the door slightly open to prevent odor and mold growth. When moving the wine cooler, remove all items, securely tape down loose items (shelves), turn up the adjustable leg to prevent damage, tape the door shut, and ensure the appliance remains upright during transportation, protecting its exterior with a blanket.
Any electrical work or repairs should only be carried out by a qualified and skilled technician or an accredited repair center using original manufacturer's spare parts. The manufacturer declines liability for damages caused by omission of safety precautions or for use other than domestic wine storage. In the event of a damaged power cable, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, an approved service center, or similarly qualified personnel to avoid hazards.
