The Cobalt Q6 Series Laser Rangefinder is a golf accessory designed to provide accurate distance measurements on the course. It aims to offer quality, performance, and a distinct personality, distinguishing itself from big-brand marketing.
The primary function of the Cobalt Q6 Series Laser Rangefinder is to measure distances to objects on a golf course using a laser. It incorporates advanced features like PinSense™ and Surge™ technology to enhance accuracy and user experience. The rangefinder is capable of measuring distances up to 600 yards to a standard white golf flag and over 600 yards to reflective pins found on some courses, with an accuracy of up to 0.5 yards for distances up to 300 yards. It also includes a slope mode (Q-6 Slope only) that calculates compensated distances based on the angle of the shot, making it a versatile tool for both practice and tournament play (when the slope function is turned off to conform to USGA rules). The device provides distance measurements in either yards or meters, which can be easily switched by the user.
The rangefinder is designed for straightforward operation. To get started, the device comes with a CR2 battery already installed. Users need to open the battery cap by lifting the tab and twisting counterclockwise, remove and discard a plastic insert, and then reinstall the battery cap by twisting clockwise.
Once the battery is properly installed, press and release the POWER button to turn on the display. The unit will be ready for ranging and will automatically power down after 10 seconds of non-use. To fire the laser, look through the ocular lens, press and release the POWER button once to turn it on, align the aiming reticle (point A in the display diagram) over the desired object, and then press the POWER/FIRE button again to fire the laser. "Firing Indicators" (B) will appear in the display, signaling that the laser is active. Release the FIRE button once the distance is displayed.
The aiming reticle helps users align the device with the target. The display provides various indicators:
The eyecup on the Q6 twists in and out, allowing users to adjust it for comfortable viewing with or without glasses. For optimal viewing without glasses, extend the eyecup fully. For viewing with glasses, twist the eyecup down. The diopter focus can be adjusted to ensure the image appears sharp.
To use the scan feature, turn on the laser, then press and hold the FIRE button. While holding the button, scan back and forth across various objects. The measurement number displayed will change as the aiming reticle moves across targeted objects, providing a quick way to get accurate readings on multiple objects or hazards.
This technology is always active, automatically sensing the pin and eliminating false positives. When multiple objects are sensed (e.g., trees behind the flag), the laser prioritizes the closer object (the flag). PinSense™ Brackets will appear around the aiming reticle, and a "Surge" of vibration, accompanied by a low audible vibration, provides feedback that the pin has been hit.
The SmartSwitch™ feature simplifies navigation by combining the slope function (Q-6 Slope only), brightness settings, and unit of measure into a single dial and button combo, eliminating complicated menu navigation.
With the unit on, rotate the Menu Dial clockwise to decrease brightness and counterclockwise to increase brightness.
The Cobalt Q6 slope on/off lever allows users to easily activate or deactivate the slope function. When the slope lever is in the ON position (indicated by a red LED), the device will display both the degree of angle and the corrected distance. The top digits show the corrected distance, while the bottom digits indicate the angle of the ranged distance in 0.1-degree increments. Uphill (up arrow) or downhill (down arrow) indicators will also be displayed. The digital accelerometer angle range is -30° to +30°. If angles are more extreme, "Hi" or "Lo" will be displayed with the corresponding arrow. To conform to USGA rules for tournament play, the slope function can be easily turned off.
To switch between yards and meters, with the rangefinder on, press and hold the Yards/Meters button for 2 seconds until the indicator changes.
The Battery Life Indicator in the display shows the remaining battery charge when the unit is on. If the indicator blinks, the battery needs to be replaced, and the unit will not be operable. To replace the battery, remove the battery cap by lifting the tab and twisting counterclockwise. Insert a CR2 battery with the positive end facing outwards, then reinstall the battery cap, ensuring it is threaded tightly.
Regular cleaning helps maintain the performance and longevity of your rangefinder.
If the Q6 rangefinder will not be used for more than 3 months, it is recommended to remove the battery and store the device in a dry location at room temperature.
