Overview

The Colstan Air Fryer Oven XL, model COL-AIRFRY-001, is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for a range of cooking functions, including air frying, baking, toasting, broiling, and rotisserie. Established in 1955, Colstan aims to provide innovative and multifunctional appliances for healthier and faster meal preparation.

Function Description:

This appliance utilizes Rapid Hot Air Technology to circulate super-hot air around food, achieving a crispy texture and rich flavor similar to traditional fried foods but with significantly less oil, thus reducing fat and calorie intake. It serves as an all-in-one solution, combining the capabilities of an air fryer, toaster, and convection oven. The unit features five primary cooking functions: Toast, Air Fry, Bake, Broil, and Rotisserie. It is equipped with six heating elements—four on top and two on the bottom—to ensure even and efficient cooking.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Number: COL-AIRFRY-001
  • Supply Power: 120V, 60Hz
  • Rated Power: 1800W
  • Capacity: 21 Liters
  • Temperature Range: 250-450°F
  • Timer Control Range: 0-60 minutes
  • Safety Features: Built-in safety micro switch that automatically stops operation when the door is open.

Usage Features:

The Air Fryer Oven XL is controlled via three main knobs:

  1. Function Switch Knob: Used to select the desired cooking method (Air Fry, Broil, Bake, Toast, Rotisserie).
  2. Temperature Control Knob: Allows adjustment of the cooking temperature within the 250-450°F range.
  3. Timer Switch Knob: Sets the cooking duration from 1 to 60 minutes.

Indicator Lights:

  • Power Indicator Light (Blue): Located on the left side, it illuminates when the timer is activated, indicating the unit is on and the cooking cycle has begun.
  • Heating Indicator Light (Orange): Located on the right side, it turns on when the unit is heating up and turns off once the set temperature is reached. It cycles on and off to regulate and maintain the set temperature.

Cooking Functions in Detail:

  • Preheating: Essential for most functions, preheating involves setting the desired function, temperature, and a 10-minute timer. The Heating indicator light signals when the target temperature is reached.
  • Broil Function: Ideal for small cuts of meat, open sandwiches, poultry, fish, vegetables, gratins, or casseroles. It is recommended to preheat for 10 minutes and use the top rack position. Caution is advised as broiling typically requires shorter cooking times, and food should be monitored to prevent overcooking. Glass oven dishes are not recommended for broiling.
  • Bake Function: Suitable for cooking cakes, baked goods, roasting meats, and preparing pre-packaged frozen meals. Preheating for 10 minutes at the desired temperature is recommended for best results. The baking pan/drip tray should be placed on the lowest level to catch grease or crumbs.
  • Toast Function: Designed for toasting bread to perfection, yielding a crunchy exterior and soft interior. Food should be centered and evenly spaced on the baking rack in the middle slot of the oven.
  • Air Fry Function: A healthy alternative to deep frying, requiring little to no oil. While preheating is not strictly necessary, it can speed up the cooking process. If the unit is already hot, 3 minutes should be deducted from recommended cooking times. A small amount of oil can be sprayed or brushed on food for even distribution. For large amounts of food, flipping halfway through cooking is recommended.
  • Rotisserie Function: Used for roasting chicken. Preheating for 10 minutes at the desired temperature is recommended. The rotisserie accessories are used for this function, and the crumb tray should be in place to catch grease and crumbs.

Accessories Included:

  • Drip Tray / Baking Pan
  • Air Frying Basket
  • Baking Rack
  • Tray Handle
  • Rotisserie Accessories
  • Crumb Tray
  • Oven Mitt

Maintenance Features:

  • General Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned after each use to prevent grease accumulation and unpleasant odors. Ensure the unit is turned off (timer to 0, temperature knob to starting point) and unplugged, allowing it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Cleaning Method: Do not immerse the unit in water or wash under running water. Accessories (except the handle) are dishwasher safe. Metal kitchen utensils or abrasive cleaning materials should not be used on non-stick coatings.
  • Interior Cleaning: Wipe the cavity with a damp cloth or sponge. For baked-on food, apply a little cooking oil and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to soften, then remove with absorbent paper towels or a soft cloth. The glass door can be cleaned with a damp soapy cloth; for stubborn stains, cover the inside of the door with damp paper towels for a few minutes before wiping clean. Avoid sharp utensils on the glass to prevent scratching or shattering. Abrasive products should not be used in the cavity.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe clean with a damp sponge and dry. Do not use steel wool, metal scouring pads, or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the finish.
  • Aluminum Foil Caution: Aluminum foil is not recommended for covering accessories as it can prevent fat from dripping into the drip tray, leading to grease accumulation and potential fire hazards. If foil is used on the Baking Pan/Drip Tray, it must fit neatly and not touch the walls or heating elements.

Safety Precautions:

Users are advised to read all instructions carefully. Always check that the main voltage matches the appliance's requirements. Avoid touching hot surfaces and use handles or knobs. Do not immerse the cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquids. Close supervision is necessary when children are nearby. Unplug the appliance when not in use and before cleaning. Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug. Ensure adequate air circulation (at least four inches of space on all sides) when operating. Use on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials. Exercise caution when moving the appliance with hot oil or liquids. Do not insert oversized foods or metal utensils. Avoid covering the oven or storing items on top of it when in operation. Do not use metal scouring pads for cleaning. Use caution with containers made of materials other than metal or glass. Do not store paper, cardboard, plastic, or similar materials in the oven. Do not cover the crumb tray or any part of the oven with metal foil. Do not leave the unit unattended, especially when toasting or broiling. Always wear insulated oven mitts when inserting or removing items from the hot oven. To disconnect, turn all knobs to the OFF position before removing the plug from the wall outlet.

Warranty and Disposal:

The product comes with a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty covering defects. Unauthorized use, service, or repair, as well as damage from accident, negligence, purposeful harm, or normal wear and tear, are not covered. A processing fee applies for service evaluation and return shipping. The product should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste; separate collection is necessary for special treatment.
