Overview

The Comfy Med Back Brace CM-AB18 is a non-sterile medical device designed for medium-duty use, providing support for various lower spine conditions. It is intended to alleviate pain and discomfort associated with the lumbar region, including general lower spine pain, wear and tear in the small vertebral joints (lumbar facet syndrome), muscle tension, and dystonia in the lumbar spine. It also offers support during athletic and physical strain.

For certain conditions, such as higher-grade instability of the lumbar spine, external injuries, neurological deficiencies (like emanating nerve pain or paralysis of the lower extremity), and circulatory disorders, the brace should only be used after consulting a physician. If back pain persists, it is recommended to seek medical advice.

The brace is designed for intermittent use, with a maximum wear time of 4 hours in a single session and no longer than 12 hours per day. This limitation is crucial for user safety and to prevent potential skin irritations or other adverse effects.

Safety Information:

Users should be aware of potential risks and follow safety guidelines carefully.

  • Risk of injury: If any problems arise while wearing the Back Brace, it should be removed immediately, and a physician should be consulted. The brace should not be applied so tightly that it restricts blood circulation. Before each use, the Back Brace must be inspected for tears or damages and should only be used if it is in flawless condition. It is not recommended to wear the Back Brace while sleeping or during extended rest periods.
  • Risk of skin irritations: In rare individual cases, skin reactions and irritations may occur. To minimize this risk, the brace should not be worn for more than 12 hours daily or 4 hours in a single session. Body parts covered by the brace should be washed regularly to prevent skin irritations. Additionally, to avoid allergic skin reactions, the skin must be free of gels, greases, ointments, oils, or similar substances before applying the brace. If any problems arise, a physician should be consulted immediately.

Usage Features:

The Comfy Med Back Brace CM-AB18 consists of several key components that work together to provide support and stabilization:

  • Main belt (A): This elastic component forms the primary structure of the brace and can be tightened to a comfortable fit.
  • Vertical polypropylene spines (B): These spines are integrated into the brace to provide structural support to the back. Their effectiveness is enhanced by the outer compression band.
  • Velcro Pads (C): These pads are part of the outer compression band system, allowing for adjustable tightness and secure fastening.
  • Outer compression band (D): This band, used in conjunction with the Velcro Pads, provides additional stabilization to the lumbar region. The tighter this band is applied, the better the vertical spines will support the back.

Applying the Back Brace:

The application process is straightforward and designed for optimal comfort and support:

  1. Loosen the outer compression band: Begin by loosening the outer compression band and reattaching it to the main belt as shown in the instructions.
  2. Position the brace: Position the Back Brace centrally on your back, ensuring it covers the lumbar region appropriately.
  3. Fold the left side: Take the side of the belt without Velcro (the left side) and fold it over your stomach first.
  4. Fold the right side: Then, fold the side with Velcro (the right side) to overlap the left side. Adjust it so it sits comfortably and is only slightly tight. Readjust if necessary to achieve maximum comfort.
  5. Tighten the outer compression band: Once the main belt is in place, tighten the outer compression band to achieve the desired level of back support.
  6. Adjust compression: The tightness and support level of the compression bands can be adjusted at any time. For maximum tightness, the two Velcro pads may even overlap.

Maintenance Features:

Proper cleaning and care are essential to maintain the brace's effectiveness and longevity:

  • Initial wash: Before using the Back Brace for the first time, it should be washed thoroughly.
  • Regular washing: It is advisable to wash the brace after every 2 or 3 uses.
  • Machine washing: For machine washing, the Back Brace should be placed inside a cotton bag to protect it.
  • Washing instructions: The brace should be hand washed or machine washed on a gentle or delicate cycle at 30°C. Do not bleach, tumble dry, iron, or dry clean the brace. It should always be washed separately from other laundry items.
