TITANIUM CARBON FIBER
33PARTICULAR CASE
Titanium is a material reserved for high-end bicycles due to its expensive
price and amount of work needed to shape it into a frame. This metal
presents exceptional mechanical characteristics, most notably its comfort
and light weight.
Titanium is used on a certain number of our high-end models. The decrease
in weight and the improvement of the dynamic qualities of the bicycle will
guarantee the best performance out there.
WARNING! Titanium suffers from a form of oxidation when it comes into contact
with another metal. This results in the chemical welding of the two materials toge-
ther. To avoid any risk of oxidation, it is essential to assemble the components
with specific anti-seize grease for titanium parts. It needs to be applied wherever
necessary: seatpost, bottom bracket, etc…
WARNING.
Even if we don’t use carbon anymore for our frame, some components used on
our bikes can be made of carbon fiber. Unlike metal, carbon fiber shows no sign
of a fatigue or indication that it is about to break. In the event of an impact or an
extreme effort, the structure will not deform visibly whereas the internal fibers will
be damaged. This means that a carbon fiber part can look fine, before snapping
suddenly. In you have any doubt, please contact us.
