The Calculator
The
Calculator
is
a
standard
four-function calculator you
can
use
to
add,
subtract, multiply,
and
divide numbers. You
can
find
the
Calculator in
the
Utilities
drawer
on
the
Workbench.
Opening the Calculator
You
open
the
Calculator by selecting its icon,
then
choosing
Open
from
the
Workbench
menu.
When
you do, a window for
the
Calculator appears.
The Calculator Keys
In
the
Calculator window,
each
of
the
Calculator's
"buttons"
is
a gadget.
When
the
Calculator window
is
selected,
there
are
two ways you
can
"press
a
button"
:
• Select
the
gadget by pointing within it,
then
clicking
the
Selection
button
on
the
mouse.
•
For
all
but
the
< -
and
+ -
"buttons,"
type
the
character
or
characters
shown
in
the
gadget.
For
example, you
can
clear
the
current
entry by
pressing
the
C key
on
the
keyboard,
then
the
E key.
The
buttons
for digits,
the
decimal
point,
and
addition
and
subtraction
are
the
same
as
those
on
other
calculators.
To
multiply,
use
the
•
button.
To
divide,
use
the
/
button.
Selecting
the
CE
button
clears
the
current
entry, while selecting
the
CA
button
clears
the
current
entry
and
any previous entries.
Pressing
the
+ -
button
changes
the
sign of
the
current
entry.
If
the
current
entry
is
a positive
number,
it
is
changed
to
the
negative
number
that
corresponds
to it.
If
the
entry
is
negative, it
becomes
positive.
