Purpose:

Ends
the
editing
session.
Syntax:

The
E
(end)
command
saves
the edited
file
on
your
disk,
renames
the
original
input
file
filename,
bak,
and
then
exits
edlin.
If
you
created
the
file
during
the
current
editing
session,
edlin
does
not
^_^i
create
a
backup
(.bak)
file.
The
E
command
takes
no
options.
This
means
that
you
must
select
the
drive
that
you
want
to
save
the
file
on
when
you
start
K^^J
edlin;
if
you
don't,
edlin
saves
the
file
on
the
disk
in
the
default
drive.
However,
you
can
still
copy
the
file
to a
different
drive
by
using
the
ms-dos
copy
command.

Before
using
the
E
command
to
save
your
file,
make
sure
that
the
disk
contains
enough
free
space
for
the
entire
file.
If
it
doesn't,
edlin
may
not
be
able
to
write
the
entire
file
to
the
disk.
The
t
J
edited
file
will
be
lost,
even
though
edlin
may
have
saved
part
of
it
on
the
disk.

Ending
your
editing
To
end
your
editing
session,
type
E
and
then
press
return.
After
session
edlin
processes
the
E
command,
the
screen
displays
the
msdos
prompt
(for
example,
A>).
